How do you look at a sea urchin under the microscope? I will show you here with some hands-on marine biology. Sea urchins have long moving spikes that protect them. I had some problems first finding a few of them, and when I found them I did not want to damage them. Luckily I found another source of sea urchin spikes. When put them under the microscope, I could see that they look very regular and beautiful, a bit like the pillars of old Greek buildings and temples. They look particularly beautiful in dark field illumination. In this video I will also show you that I found sea cucumbers and hermit crabs.
