Here I rant about the following points:
1. Complex product pages of microscopes with much technical information, which is not relevant
2. Artificially blown up selection of microscopes
3. Extremely high cost of some microscopes
4. Advertisement with unrealistically high magnifications
Thank you. My student microscope purchase was bound by budget restraints. If I’d had more money, I surely would have fallen for some of the marketing tricks you mention. I’m a bit of a cynic so I don’t suppose this will have an impact on the retailers, but will definitely educate someone who is looking to buy.
