Hello, everyone. My name is Kimberly and I live in Phoenix, AZ. I became interested in microscopy while studying Biotechnology and combined it with my love of photography. I have an I-4 Infinity microscope. I am currently using the Minivid camera from Great Scopes but have also used my Sony W80. I haven't tried my dSLR (Canon T1i) yet. I just started printing my photos-for that I have a Canon Pixma ip4820 and a Pixma 9500 Mark II. Also, learning Photoshop. Digital is pretty new to me-I started photography back in the film only days. I am very new to all of this and look forward to sharing with and learning from everyone in the forum. Here are a couple of photos.Algae from Muskegon LakeDiatoms from Wisconsin inland water

Thanks. I found a great photoshop course here in Phoenix at Pro Digital Image. It meets once a week for 4 (Sat 4 hours) or 5 (weeknight 3 hours) weeks. It really helped get me started. I didn't want to take a college course because I would be bogged down with homework and taking a bunch of photos that I'm not interested in – like portraits. If anyone is in the area and is interested here is the link: http://www.prodigitalimage.com/

I would like to get more training in microscopy, but like another forum member said, there is not much out there. I was really happy to run into the Microbe Hunter magazine and ordered all four copies.

Hello Kimberly,

Also a warm welcome from me.

Nice pictures! I'd like to include your pictures in the gallery in the next issue of Micrbehunter Magazine, if this is OK with you (credits given of course). I'm always looking for contributions to make the magazine interesting.

Greetings, Oliver

Hi Kimberly,

Thanks! Can you please email me your full name (for the photo credits) and also your equipment (for the caption) that you used to make the pictures? Is it a pond water sample?

Oliver.
