If you were a child in Canada, England or the USA you probably sang the song about Yankee Doodle.

"He put a feather in his cap and called it maccaroni."

When I saw this photo of my self made Splenda specimen, I immediately thought of the song.
AJ-SPL microscope, 5x objective, polar rotated 90°, ¼wave plate in place.

It didn't take long before I found a hat to stick it in.
