These are lovely shots. I gather you've been told they are really a Daphnia, for which the tail spine and ridged head are characteristic? I thought I'd mention it because of another difference, the markings on your carapace, I found interesting and that your images show very well. For Daphnia they are usually a grid like you see here; for Simocephalus a series of transverse lines; for another close relative, Ceriodaphnia, a honeycomb pattern.
