I stumbled upon this link when I googled " diatoms" searching for good books on diatom biology. I didnt find a good book but I found the Link.
I don't think diatoms are strictly devided by continents (unless they are fresh water diatoms). However, when I searched google I saw many books about " diatoms of Europe", diatoms of India" etc….. so I assume there are some endemic species otherwise the titles don't make sense. However, being a rookie and definitely not an expert on this subject ( that's why I was looking for the book) I would love to have someone with more knowledge comment on this question.
So if anybody can recommend a very good authoritative book on the biology of diatoms, please do !
