Re: I was looking to get more out my microscope.

Side note:

I am interested in rotifers and was wondering if I can culture some and separate them into a small petri dish to research any information that I can observe, like eating habits ect…

I work Mon-Fri so the only free day I get is Saturday and on Sundays I do other stuff.

I was looking to get more out my microscope.

I bought a brand new microscope early this year and I’ve already looked at quite a few household objects and some pond life. I was hoping there is more to owning a microscope rather than just looking at random cells. Can anyone recommend experiments I can conduct at home? Something that is relativel...

I’m a amateur and trying to look for food poisoning germs.

Hello.

I am an amateur microscopist and was wondering where do I go about finding and seeing food poisoning bacteria under the microscope like salmonella or E.coli?

I already have a microscope that can see up to 400x magnification and a methylene blue staining solution.

Can anyone please help?

photomicro gave a nice idea about using wallpaper paste. Will that stuff wash off the slides?

Re: IPHONE SCREEN - 100X

Just a note for everyone discussing what magnification it was taken at.

I just checked and realised my eye piece says "10xWF". So it's a 10x Wide Field (18mm) eye piece.

Is my total magnification still 100x?

The problem is that if they are dead, you can't see them opening their mouth when they feed.

Re: IPHONE SCREEN - 100X

I used the 10x objective and a 10x eye piece, so I calculated 100x total magnification.

I think it might be different sizes depending on electronics for example television, tablet or smartphones.

This was a iPhone 5s for your reference.

Re: FORUM RECENT POST ISSUES

The admin should create "POST CREATION DATE" on the filter. Otherwise a topic which was created in 1969 could still be at the top of a list just because somebody made a comment on a old topic. This is a very nice forum for microscopists but the functionally is letting this forum down.
