Re: Olympus EHT

Thanks microbob. Trinocular heads are quite rare I didn't even know that they existed. And now I'm really glad I have one. I don't like microscopes in hospital-beige colours I totally agree! Black is the best color. But this grey is actually okay too! And an inverted microscope!!! So awesome. Never ...

Re: Olympus EHT

Wow, that's the one I have! Thanks Notice that the phase condenser in the Digital Collection site has numbered positions: 10, 20 etc. These refer to phase objective. About the photo tube: Luckily, the EHT microscope takes an FK, rather than an NFK photo eyepiece. The latter type are rare and very e...

Re: What are those? They look like eggs...

I think that those are yeast cells. Not sure tho. When I looked at yeast under the microscope, it looked like this:

And it looks quite similar.

Re: Olympus EHT

I can't tell by the photo or the manual but there 'should' be a way to unlock it. (Perhaps turning the silver ring) I will look if it can be done! I didn't found something in the manual either. As to the bulb filament, once it is focused and centered there is no need to redo these steps again unles...

Re: Olympus EHT

Thank you so much for your tips and advice, Hobbyst46! I am gonna look at page 15 and 16. I don't think that they are parfocal because when I look through the photo eyepiece I have to focus again. How important is it for the photo eyepiece to be parfocal?

Re: Olympus EHT

Yes, I did find that site, too. Really helped a lot! I learned how to use the iris diaphragm for example. I just looked and the eyepiece on the phototube has PH2,5X. Is that the same as a FK2,5X?

Hello from the Netherlands

Hello everyone! My dad gave me an old microscope two months ago and during my search which model it was I found this forum. I figured out that it's an olympus EHT-431 and at least 30 years old. It's a phase contrast microscope and so awesome. I'm still at high school and next year i'm planning on st...
