Re: Rheinberg Filters
I was interested in ordering a set of Rheinberg filters such as these off of eBay to play with: But then read this article suggesting that the diameter of the inside color disc should specifically match the diameter of the condenser iris, which changes with each objective if you follow the author's...

Re: Looking for an Abbe 1.25 Nikon Labophot Condenser with DF stop insert
Yes I already have that condenser and I can make that my self with my 3D printer. Which I've already started designing. The reason why I want the other condenser with the slot is for that very reason. I could 3D print my own different stops using the dimensions of the DF stop it comes with. Also I c...

Looking for an Abbe 1.25 Nikon Labophot Condenser with DF stop insert
I can't seem to find a condenser that originally came with the Nikon Labophot. Apparently it had a Dark Field stop you could insert into the front.

Re: Permanent Slide Mount Assistant DIY (3D printed)
I just find applying constant pressure over 2 hours (nail polish) creates no bubbles. Plus the added weight also requires much much less polish creating a very thin layer, almost rendering it invisible. Also with the right amount there tends to be no ooze on the edges of the cover glass.

Permanent Slide Mount Assistant DIY (3D printed)
This might be a little over engineered, but it's a good excuse to practice with my printer. It presses the cover slide down while the nail polish dries into a nice thin bubble free layer. If you have access to a 3D printer you can get the files here. --> https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3160233 htt...

Nikon labophot eye peice cup size
I'd like to add eye cups to my eye pieces on my Nikon Labophot. I found plenty on eBay. But im not sure on the size.
The eye peices are the ones that came with the scope.
Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Oh no! Nikon Labophot stage wont go up!
Fixed! When i purchased the scope the gentleman informed me that he upgraded the gears to brass/metal. Verified it today. I took apart the knob assembly and discovered the issue. The small focus gear came off probably due to the fact that i loosened the adjustment knob a bit to much. Anyway all good...

185 Objectives?
So being new to this hobby I went on ebay to look at objectives for my Nikon Labophot. Found these https://www.ebay.ca/itm/4X-10X-20X-40X-60X-100X-185-Achromatic-Biological-Microscope-Objective-Lens-1PCS-/302485060008 and figured why not, cheap enough and I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality....

What about the clarity?Hobbyst46 wrote:This are fluorescence images, and I think that these are not true colors but pseudo colors added in software. Even if they are physical colors, they originated from monochromatic light. So at least this difference is not what you see in "ordinary" hobby microscopy.

Re: Objectives types comparison images?
Thanks for taking the time and your test is fantastic, but I'm going even more basic than comparing high end lenses to high end lenses over time. This is more what I'm talking about. A standard lens vs an expensive lens and what would the visual differences be to a newbie. Plan Apo vs Plan Achro. Wo...

Objectives types comparison images?
So as a newbie who will upgrade his objectives slowly ($$$) in the future I've been learning about lenses. Are there any visual comparisons online that demonstrate the differences between Achro, Flou and APO in terms of what to expect? Also PLAN/PH versions of those lenses would be a great bonus too...

Re: Permanently mount a Slide
Oh okay. So there are different permanent mounting techniques, wet and dry? Interesting. I thought dry mounting was just veiwing the specimen and throwing it out like pond water. So dry mount is a different type of permanent mount. So i assume on a dry mount, the idea is to seal the cover glass arou...

Cross section of a flowers stem. 6. Dandelion feather(?) 7. Pollen 8. Blood I tried to choose things based on moister and ...

Permanently mount a Slide
So I've been searching "How to create a permanent slide"
I'm seeing Fructose, Nail polish and a few chemicals in which I can't remember the names of.
How do you all create a slide? And is it expensive?

Thanks. I dont think im going to try and find anything to accomodate the illuminator. I just thought lighting a subject from above would be neat.
I contacted the seller and he agreed to a refund.
Live and learn i guess.
Thank you once again.

Re: Vertical Illuminator for Nikon Labophot question
Only if you want it to light up . . . :) Your epi adapter should also have a tube lens as well as a half-mirror in it, to adapt it to 160mm objectives. Otherwise, it is intended for a longer objective tube length, perhaps the Nikon 210mm (if I recall) BF (bright field)/DF (dark field) objectives. I...

Re: Anyone familiar with Labophot heads?
Thanks for the info. So I guess I'll try to find a non UW trinoc for expense reasons. So I have questions. 1. The special eye piece that goes into a optical tube is called a relay lens? 2. I've seen 2x 5x and 10x relay lenses. I assume the higher the number the smaller the viewable area via the tube...
