Re: Let’s talk about Delamination

LOMO objectives of a certain age are particularly prone to delamination. Don't ask me how I know this.
I have never seen it in eyepieces though.

How is that BH-2 treating you! That was a heck of a deal as well! Congrats on the retirement! I hope to be able to do that in a few years. The BH-2 continues to give brilliant service, it is my go-to instrument for great views and ease of use. Yes, it was a better deal than I could ever have expect...

I haven't checked in in quite a while and I must say that I am astonished and saddened by all the SPAM. It certainly makes the forum a much less comfortable place to spend the odd free few minutes.

Re: Tiny fish found in local stream

How big is it? Some small bodies of water are intentionally (sometimes accidentally by birds and other critters or flooding) stocked with "mosquito fish" who's job it is to eat mosquito larvae. These are roughly the size and shape of a plain guppy. The young can of course be quite small.

Re: Olympus Dplan objectives

I'm looking forward to photos when your new scope arrives. The DPLAN objectives are very good. I lucked into most of a set of SPLANs for m BH2 some time ago and while they are really good, the improvement over the DPLANs isn't a stunner.

I had good luck on a LOMO objective with frozen collar by applying gentle heat.
Good luck.

Re: Will camera sensor overheat in Live View?

A fellow that I know killed 2 of this same model of camera by recording church services for stay-at-home folks during the early days of the Pandemic before he found out about the overheating issue. I bought mine initially for some occasional astrophotography, but this past winter provided very few g...

They say 'cleaned'....
You have to take anything that Amscope says with a grain of salt. Sometimes a truckload of salt.

Re: How to clean coverslips?

The Amscope branded coverslips and slides are notorious for being filthy right out of the box. We had this discussion a few years ago, seems it pays to spend a bit more brass for brand name glass. The Globe brand slides and cover slips that I bought on Amazon some years ago were very clean. Your mil...

Will camera sensor overheat in Live View?

I picked up a used Canon T3i camera recently and have been having some fun adapting it to my scope and taking some shots. Live View through the computer monitor with the Canon utility software sure is handy. But I worry about overheating the imaging sensor. I read all kinds of conflicting informatio...

Re: 2 ways to get 200X

I might try to get hold of a mount which will let me get my old Cannon 500d onto the trinocular head to test whether I'm missing detail with my 3 mp camera. My little 3mp USB camera provides pretty good resolution, but lacks in dynamic range, which I believe is a common flaw of all such cameras. CE
