Re: Darkfield Adapter for Whole Slide Imaging

I liked the result, next step is to place more LEDs around the perimeter, in order to have more light control. Anybody tried this type of illumination already ? To my shame, Saul, I still have not summoned-up the courage try mounting some tiny ‘surface-mount’ LEDs that I bought last year. Ordered 0...

Darkfield Adapter for Whole Slide Imaging

Found time to play with the old project, which was inspired by: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3592912/ Initial setup: 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg LEDs from the top & bottom are covered with the aluminum foill (to concentrate the light to the edge of the slide). That’s very impressive

I see it raised, but I’m guessing that it’s a cavity [and paired for cross-eyed viewing]

Re: Half-mirror

I'm assuming that's a resin printed dovetailed cube. I don't know where it goes, but could you fit a 20mm 50/50 non-polarizing beam splitter cube in there? Then you could get one of these to experiment with for $22: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cube-Beam-Splitter-Prism-Ratio-Optical-Glass-50-50-Spectro...

Half-mirror

Looking for the half-mirror (not dichroic) for the Nikon BF/DF DIY cube.

Proof of the concept was made with the SurplusShed dichroic mirror (at the left),working model is at the right, used half-mirror leftover piece.

One more model (in parallel to the existing one) - more powerful, swap-able heatsink (let's say you want UV version also), can be used for non flash version, etc. Even more, the same heatsink can be used for both LEDs - reversed to the another side. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/1489...

When you say 200mm and 125mm tube lenses, are these achromatic doublets? Or something fancier? 200mm is Reichert Microstar IV head TL (no idea what is inside), 125mm - achromatic doublet. I have a Thorlabs achromatic doublet? Did you ever try that as a tube lens (based on a 2011 posting you had lin...
