Cover slip or no cover slip

Hi all, I have recently just discovered the pleasures of creating crystal slides to photograph with I must admit mixed results. My question is, should i place cover slips on my slides or will a cover slip prevent the crystals from forming? If I should place cover slips on these slides, should I do s...

par focal distance / tube length

Hi everyone, My microscope is an Olympus bh2/bhs. My question is, how do I work out the amount of extension required when I attach my Nikon D7200 in order to maintain the 160mm par focal distance. ie:- between which two points do I take a measurement. Hope this makes sense, as you can probably tell ...

Re: Darkfield using Olympus BH2/BHS

Many thanks to all for the help and suggestions.
I think I will go down the diy route until such times as I can find the correct condenser etc:
Again many thanks.

Re: Olympus BH-2 Voltage Control

Many thanks John B. Got myself a can of contact cleaner and did as you suggested, now working brilliantly. Cleaned everything else while i had it apart and now with a bit of luck no further problems.
Again many thanks.

Olympus BH-2 Voltage Control

I have an Olympus BH-2 on which the sliding voltage control is not working. When the power is switched on and with the sliding control set to it's minimum, the power lights show two of the twelve led's lit up. But sliding the control forward fails to increase the voltage and light intensity. As i am...

Re: New member with New Toy!!

Thanks for the information Mike, the microscope is a BH2/BHS and I got it through an acquaintance who aquired it from a company that was renewing it's older microscopes.
The tube length on the Leitz objective is 160.

New member with New Toy!!

Hello from Yorkshire, UK. Although I have done quite a lot of macro & extreme macro photography over the years, I am a complete novice when it comes to microscopy. Hopefully I am now about to rectify that as I have recently acquired an old Olympus microscope. The objectives that i received with the i...
