Re: Microscopy project

Thank you both, JimT and Peter, for your exellent ideas! I will consider them. Also, JimT, let me make clear: I'm the student who is going to make the project, the other project groups I have written about are just examples of previous projects. Also, what is a Sr. HS microscope? I have got another ...

Microscopy project

Hello! Where I live, all students do a project during their last year in upper secondary school (senior high school). The project has to be related to the program the student is attending, which in my case means biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics. However, since I am interested in microscopy...

Re: Exploring marine microbes

Thank you for sharing, it's interesting to read about the project! According to a book I have it is possible to create a rice infusion by simply adding grains of rice, so my guess is that it will affect the amount of microbes in a positive way.

Re: A Crowd of Vorticella

A very nice and clear video! I discovered Vorticella for the first time myself earlier this week and their distinguished look is fascinating! I did only find a total of three or so in my sample, but it will be interesting to see if they increase in number over time.

Thank you John B, that is some excellent information! Both about listerine and storage - you've definitely taken me one step closer to trying this. ;)

Yes indeed, the more of his articles I read the more I understand the value of them!

I'm inclined to make my own mounting medium, and have spent quite some time looking for different formulas and ingredients. However, I've read that in order to founction permanently, the medium n...

Charlie Guevara, I'm interested in reading your articles about this topic, could you possibly post a link to the magazine(s) where they can be found?

Re: ID Hay Infusion

Hi Gekko,

Thank you for your reply! Yeah, the bad quality of the images limits the possibility of the identification, I'm aware of that. I will check that rotifer. If I can't identify it, at least it can be a task for my class at the presentation! ;)

ID Hay Infusion

Hello, We've been studiyng hay infusions in Biology class for a few weeks, and I found something which my teacher didn't recognize. Since we'll present our results on Friday, I would be very glad if anyone of you could tell me the name of this microbe. The pictures are bad, as they are taken with my...
