Re: Seeking informations

Thanks for the clarification, my bad guys. That is a bit tricky I must say ! I also found this bad boy, a Nikon SMZ 645 for 300$ (I could negociate if you find it higher than what it should): https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2019/21/7/1558881108-capture-d-ecran-2019-05-26-a-16-31-13.png https://...

Re: Seeking informations

Thanks for pointing that out Scarodactyl, even though I could upgrade to a nicer scope in the long run. MicroBob, this is a good thing to bring personal experience here. In the end, I find this stereoscope a bit weird, and might wait for another occasion, even tough good offers are rare on the marke...

Re: Seeking informations

So, by looking at the specs, it seems it's a fixed interpupillary distance without a way to change it, right ?

Seeking informations

Hi everyone, I might purchase a stereomicroscope, but when I looked for it's name (Zeiss Ikon Stemi DV4), I couldn't find any information on it. Instead, I found informations about the Zeiss Stemi DV4, a blue (high-end ?) stereomicroscope, which is different from the one I want to buy. Here is a pho...

Re: Another nice, fast moving amoebe, from my pond

Oh yeah, the van Egmond Mask, I tried it too ! it was a failure aha. To be honest, I don't really know where to put such masks. Most of them are between the condenser and the light path, but I have no idea how to hold them, filter slots ? The Gradient Universal Filter is interesting, i'll try it asa...

Re: Another nice, fast moving amoebe, from my pond

How do you achieve oblique illumination ? I know about Flèche de Mathias and filters, but none of them (which I tried DIY) worked properly at the moment.

Very cool amoeba, I'd love to catch one, their pseudopods are alien-like. Fascinating.

Also, a recent study in Biophysics showed that fishes in shoal increase the overall speed of the group (can't find the study...). Also, it was proven that shoaling was more effective in terms of decision making, compared to being alone (study: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-27807-1) Anyw...

Re: Product advise

All I can say is, with patience, you can get a good used microscope. I got a Zeiss Standard binocular with Phase contrast and Neofluar objectives, for around 575e (around 650$). I waited more or less a month, actively searching everyday for the best deal.

Good luck ;)
