Unknown Algae

I have just found a what I believe to be an algae but could be a ciliate. It is ovoid slightly narrower at one end, about 200um long, greyish in colour, globular, cilia or flagella covering surface and rolls across the slide, it is filled at least twenty spherical shapes from 25 - 45 um in size. I use Protozoology by Kudo Published by Thomas and "How to know the protozoa" bu Jahn, Bovee, Jahn Pub McGraw Hill, with Ward and Whipple. They cover all my needs here in the UK. Good Luck!

Further to other information it helps if you warm all the equipment you use slides, coverglasses, dropping rods when making slides with glycerine jelly it reduces the risk of air bubbles. If you add a drop of formalin to the underside of the coverslip before placing it on the glycerine jelly it stop...

Hi Everyone I wonder if anyone can help me locate either a good clean binocular (preferable) or a monocular head for a Baker 1380 microscope. It could be called an ES model and is in grey. I have enjoyed the videos and pleased to have joined the forum. Look forward to further involvement.



Currently using a Leitz Laborlux, Brunnel SP500 and a BMS Stereoscope.
