Objective canisters

Hello all, I have a million, or so, plastic objective canisters with RMS threaded caps which are suitable for most of the older scopes. They will not work with newer Olympus (BX) or Nikon (Eclipse and newer). Available to the US in a $8.00 flat rate box which may hold a dozen, or so. Make a reasonab...

Re: Nikon E400 with many accessories, anyone have any idea what it's worth?

You have what appears to be a very nice instrument. I've had some experience with the E400 and phase objectives and believe that they are great objectives which produce very fine images. The positive side are the objectives; the negative side is the stand. The objectives can be used on later model s...

Re: Which Microscope?

For the budget you are allowing you don't have much latitude with your choices, but in this price range either of the microscopes will probably show you enough to decide whether you want to continue. Neither of the scopes offer any more than the minimum, in spite of the advertising 'hyperbole', and ...

Thanks Tom and 75RR.

I did not even think about the phone, but that's a great idea. Adapters are very reasonable (cheep).

I'll try to send Lisa from Oahu a private message.

This one is 0.7 - 3.0x I have no idea what power the oculars are as I can't see any markings on the barrels from the posted photos. Does that make it a V.4? The stereo microscopes of that era were identified by their body design (magnification range) and stand type. Your body. also called a pod, ha...

If cleaning the slider does not work then it is the circuit board with the LEDs. At one time there was a secondary source, but I've not seen anything for some time. I now convert the BH2 to LED using a handy kit I have.

Re: LED ADAPTATION TO AO SPENCER

I have a 3W LED kit that I have used successfully on quite a few varieties of scopes. The 3W is sufficient to replace a 6V30W halogen. The power supply needs 110V and has variable intensity control. Some of these have been in professional use for five years.

Anyone use a Pelican Case to store and transport their microscope? Is it worth it? Is there a downside? Looking into a second hand 1650 I do use Pelican Cases and find them well worth the $$$. Re: ?: Plan Objectives and Rack-and-Pinion condenser

'm expecting this upgrade to provide only an incremental increase in specimen viewing quality. The scope will use LED illumination. How big is your increment ? If it's small, just buy some better Nikon objectives. If it's larger, buy a Labophot, or Labophot2, or Olympus BH2. If you are just looking...

Hi Katerina, It may be that your son will use the scope for a while and then move on to other interests as many do, but if he is like me and many of us in this group he will have his first scope when he is 70. Whatever the case, I think the Fisher scope will give him a good start and probably last f...

Hi Katerina, I am coming a bit late to this discussion, but do have a dissenting opinion. I would choose the Fisher model over the LW because it is of much more durable construction. Whether the scope is ideal for your 11 year old is another discussion, but as far as the quality instrument there is ...

Merry Christmas, everyone. Hobbyst46, unfortunately there are no suitable shortcuts for the proper lubrication of the focusing mechanism. Re: New (for me) Nikon S. What do do about illumination?

Oh dear ... Now I'm really confused The Ushio bulb does have a 1/2 silvered envelop, but will work well in your illuminator if it is not too long. Nikon used quite a variety of similar bulbs in their inventory. The Ushio was used in the Alphaphot model and in that situation was a dimmable bulb. The...
