Yes you’re right. He switched out the tube to a trinocular tube for me! I’m really happy about this, it’s not that straightforward to find....

I PMed Scarodactyl about one in mid-December and assume by then he had already found one. If anyone is looking for one on this side of the Atlantic, there is presently a like-new example on ebay.de for 249€ (+7€ shipping within Germany).

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M5 power supply

That 01-261 looks promising, and I might take the chance if it cheap and you are trying to avoid a little metal (re)working. It is not like you have to buy a bunch of an old part. On that note, if anyone needs a replacement fuseholder and/or cap for a Schott KL 1500 electronic halogen light source, ...

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M5 power supply

Thanks for the picture. I would say that is a 5A/250V illuminated switch with a 60V/1.2W bulb. I believe you have a Wild MTR 22 transformer. I have an MTR 28, which has a meter instead of the lamp, that I could look at and measure. It came with a microscope made around 1980.

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M5 power supply

You should be able to find something as that was a typical panel thickness and material back then, and Wild allowed a generous amount of room around the switch. I might want to measure the transformer's power up, inrush current to help choose a switch that can handle it.

Re: Leica/Wild: any special advantage in different tube+optic combinations?

Thank you for those images. I gather the very last image shows the chromatic aberration I have read about, that the Wild photo system never fully got under control. What amuses me, and I have come to much appreciate, is that the Wild phototubes (directly) project the best image on to the receiver th...

Sorry, I seemed to have unwittingly laid a red herring and perhaps should minimize my posts until I am fully recovered. Good job. Out of curiosity, is there a reason to have the E-PL7's LCD screen set in selfie-mode? Flipped the other way, the upper dials and buttons are unobstructed and before you. You may, however, have to adjust to reading the menus upside down. I customize the controls to minimize that and consid...

Re: Wild M3B with Motic 1500.3 photo-bridge

The c mount seems like an unnecessary intermediate in that equation, and a potential bottleneck or source of flare if you get one with a slightly tighter or less well flocked interior. Probably easier to just adapt on cheap m42 spacers, an m42 helicoid and an m42 to m4/3 adapter. I like that sugges...

It appears that Motic reworked the photo bridge but did not update all their brochures. I have an older adapter shown in the K-Series brochure that downloads from some of their websites. The pictured photo bridge accepts an IS0-38 to C-mount adapter very much like the Leitz 543345, only with a broad...

I have used the E-PL1, E-PL3, E-PL7 and E-PL8 on at least, lower magnification stereo microscopes. I think you will find the tiltable screens on the E-PL3 onward to be well worth having. None of these can or are really meant to output live video for demos. You can at least wirelessly tether the PL7/...

Well, sure, APS-C cameras can be very good, but that's missing the point of the post : if you use those on a BH2, you're going to deal with substantial FOV crop. I found four ISO 4762 M8x70mm, blackened steel, hexagon socket head cap screws. I believe the screws are in blind, threaded holes.

This would be for the older, more massive variant (with a 50mm rear post) of the stand pictured above.

Re: American Optical Series 10 LED replacement for 1036A

The XL6019 is an XLSEMI boost regulator IC – the heart of the DC/DC converter module you are using? It is indeed based on the XLSEMI chip; however, the limit of the XLSEMI is around 40v so it won't boost to the level needed for the Mean Well's > 90v.... The IDLC-25 takes 90-295VAC mains voltage and...

Unfortunately, my oldish browser is not properly rendering the above links so I do not know the technical particulars of those dimmers. I need more light and did the converse: I found a flickerless dimmer to drive a particular CREE LED. More specifically, I found a MEAN WELL IDLC-25 , dimmable, constant current power supply to drive an 18W COB LED. That way the LED (and illumination) come first and there is much less risk of buying ...
