He can design amd make just about any adapter, connecter you can conceive.[/b] Do not hesitate to contact him. I second that. He refined a blueprint I sent him and then produced an adapter that allows me to install a newer generation Axioplan condenser to an older Axiovert scope: https://rafcamera....

I'd be very happy if these were my first pictures. There is no chromatic aberration, the field is planar, its all good. As for cleaning the microscope read this: https://hcbi.fas.harvard.edu/files/hcbi ... cope_e.pdf

Re: Zeiss AxioCam HRc - Worth the bother?
Get a PCI card and firewire from Amazon or elsewhere online. It shouldn't cost more than 30-50 USD. Zen lite is sufficient, you'll have to fiddle around with the right drivers but everything you need should be available online. I found myself in possession of a similar Zeiss camera last year and it...

Re: Buying from the "big 4"
I could buy the basic mechanics new Thats what I would do. You would have a solid foundation to build upon while avoiding the potential minefield of intricate mechanisms and light train components being damaged, misaligned and so on. Also consider getting an objective turret that comes with the pos...

Re: Zeiss Inverted Microscopes for Sale
An inverted scope is most excellent for someone that would like to observe a.habitat. an aquarium can be made by epoxying a large cover slip to the bottom of a plastic petri dish with a hole drilled or cut in the bottom. Pond water can be put in and the inhabitants can be kept alive for a long time...

Re: My Zeiss microscope
As far as how much of the field can be captured on the camera sensor, it is about half. OK, that makes sense I guess for a 63 mm objective coupled to an APS-C sensor. If you ever wish to cover more of the FOV you have 2 options, either change to a full frame 35 mm camera or find a lens with a short...

Re: The peritrich Scyphidia
Hi Tim, I could tell your image looks much nicer now, no chromatic aberrations and such. I guess you use part 47 30 29 which is essentially a 63 mm objective that converts the virtual image from the 10x/18 Kpl-W eyepiece into a real image that is compatible with the flat sensor of your camera. If th...

You can deposit a thin strip of petroleum jelly on the underside edge of the coverslip. Alternatively, after you've assembled your slide coat the boarder between coverslip and glass slide with nail polish. Once the nail polish dries out (takes a few minutes) water evaporation happens much slower.

Re: Flagellates living inside chili plant root cells
I disagree with the above idea that these are flagellates that have become trapped in roots. There are a number of plant diseases which are caused by flagellated protozoans, and some of these are invasive (e.g. the protozoan enters and lives inside of the plant cells or within structures such as th...

Re: Flagellates living inside chili plant root cells
Nice finding. I guess the cells are dead and the flagellates got trapped inside and now have a hard time finding their way out. So if the cells were still alive, the organisms could find a way out? What would the difference be? Thanks. I think what happened is that a root cell got damaged and lost ...

Glycerin has a strong osmotic effects which kills the organisms you want to slow down.

Re: Microscopic life in a sea water aquarium
Marvellous images! The first ciliate is in the family Strombidiidae (a very abundant group, in salt water). The pigmented fellow is a species of Pseudokeronopsis (e.g. P. rubra ) As you already know, the next ciliated creature is not a ciliate at all, but an acoel (acoelomorph) flatworm, equipped w...
