Re: Leica ergonomic stereo microscope head schema?
Apologies for the late reply. I have just serviced a few of these heads and can see it is only two 2.5mm Allen screws to remove the top plastic cover. I can’t upload a picture, though the screw heads are quite visible when you compress the bellows at rear of the head once you have removed the 4 scre...

Re: Leica ergonomic stereo microscope head schema?
It a problem, These are the four screws that will disengage a metal retainer which is holding g the bellows to the bottom plate. It won’t allow you to remove the bottoms plate, but you can lift the bellows up to access three screws that hold the top plastic cover on. I haven’t been able to clean the...

Re: Leica ergonomic stereo microscope head schema?
I don’t have a manual, though I know there are approx 4x 2.5mm Allen screws on the underside that when removed, allow you to seperate the black bellows from the bottom plate. You can then get to three 2.5mm Allen screws through the bellows that will remove the plastic top cover. I also haven’t been ...

Re: Wild (Leica) M3Z stereo microscope inner view?
There is a pin (approx 2-3mm in diameter) on the inside of that cam, either on that lobe or the other, which also has a machine groove which looks like a circlip would fit (but it doesn’t). The rectangular thin brass plate which has the oval shaped hole slips over that pin (pin goes through hole), a...

Re: Repair or parts manual for Leica MZ6 stereo microscope?
Definitely a roller bearing should be rolling over the brass cam, which should be pressed over that stub as you have thought. Although having serviced thousands of MZ6’s, I have never taken measurement of the roller bearing, not ever had to replace one. I would estimate the roller bearing to be appr...

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M8 scraping noise on zoom
Original factory lubricant is Kluber Isoflex Topas NB 5051 I have to buy in 1Kg tub due to location. Should be able to source smaller quantities if in Europe I would imagine. Use sparingly Thanks for the info. Was this lubricant used in all of the other Wild stereos as well, i.e. M7, M3 -series, M1...

Re: Leica / Reichert Jung Polyvar Microscope Illuminator Plug Type
As mentioned, the pin diameter is 3mm, with a length of 10mm. The distance between pins in approx 6.5mm. So, pin centre to pin centre would be 9.5mm. The diameter of the round black plastic part of plug is 16mm. Then you have the male and female semicircle lumps (key way) which both have a radius of...

Re: Leitz Orthoplan focus block disassembly docuemtation
Not a problem The wedges are captured by the upper 3mm hex bolts. They can be lowered or raised which will tilt the stage and condenser block back or forwards. If they aren’t set correct, not only will your stage be on an angle, but the condenser will also push the light path away from the centre op...

Re: Leitz head needing some work
Removing the center plate won’t reveal much, just the other sides of the dovetails. There should be four phillips head screws that you should see through the top of the photo port, these will remove the port. Yes, just removing the four (2 already visible, 2 under port) flat head screws will allow y...

Re: Leitz head needing some work
That’s good news As expected, removing the photo tube will reveal two more flat head screws. Removing all four flat head screws will allow you to remove the prism assembly from the head box frame. You don’t have to remove the image path selector knob as that assembly will stay with the frame. Removi...

Re: Leitz head needing some work
Are there two flat head screws on top of the head? If so, there will be two more under the camera port (port needs to be removed to access). The silver image path selector knob needs to be removed as well from memory, it’s on a spline and should just pull off. A picture of both top and bottom would ...

Hi Fred, Regarding lubricants, I use only what the factory suggest. I have to order it by the Kg, though that may due to my local distributor. Only a f...

Re: Leitz Orthoplan focus block disassembly docuemtation
The Orthoplan focus is extremely complex, rebuilding is something that takes lengths of training and supervising to become comfortable with. To remove the focus block, which is the Z-axis liner bear block along with coarse/fine focus system, there are 4x 3mm hex head screws. Removing this block will...

Re: Service of Vanox AH rotating stage
The BH2 rotatable stage is very simple. You would remove, or back off, the cantering screws AA849500. Then pull the stage against the spring pin AA695400, then tilt the rear of stage upwards and out. It’s possible the banks is the same though you may need to remove the lever that engages the 45* cli...
