Re: Need a way to secure Camera to E600 Microscope
I am using a micro 4/3 camera. If I got one of those tubes I would need another adapter that attaches to the camera right?

Need a way to secure Camera to E600 Microscope
I have a 0.5x relay lens attached to a camera that goes in the trinocular port of my nikon e600. The camera has too much weight on one side so it tips over. The lower part of the relay lens fits well but it only goes in an inch which isn't enough to hold the weight of the camera. I need some kind of...

Re: Hdmi imaging anyone?
The dslr and micro four third photography cameras are generally better than the usb cameras. The usb cameras can be really hit or miss so you have to lookup the specific model you are interested in and see what people have uploaded with them. The only issue with dslr and micro 4/3 is finding adapter...

Re: sensor size / aspect-ratio / fov
I don't know about the mathematical fov stuff but for taking pictures and videos of microbes I prefer micro 4/3 cameras because of the zoom effect they have. People say full frame is technically more detailed but the zoom factor with micro 4/3 and CMOS sensors are useful. The Canadian nature photogr...

Re: Pictures and Video Posts: HOW TO ???
Hi, it's simple- you can't do this! You can upload jpg of up to 1024 pixels long side and upt to 500 kB size. For anything bigger you will need an external host. Big advantage of the forum upload ist that it will most likely work as long as the forum is alive. External photo hosts die one after the...

Re: Made another compilation video
Not DIC or oblique just regular brightfield darkfield and one clip with phase contrast. Remarkable! I have a Nikon Labophot 2 with CFN objectives, but protists appear somewhat monochrome (at least the details: “eyes”, etc) unless I use oblique illumination or similar tricks. I’d like to understand ...

Re: Made another compilation video
That one toward the end had a nice slant to it, almost like a 3D with a tilt effect. That one was the most interesting. I wonder how this one was captured? It looks insanely detailed. Some of the footage was shot in 4k and downgraded to 1080p for this video. The 4k recordings capture color and deta...

Re: Slowmotion Test Footage 180-240 FPS
Panasonic GH5s. Its meant to be a film making camera in dslr/m4/3 form. The max frames it can do is 240 in 1080p. Normally the GH5s shoots grainy looking 240 fps because it needs a lot of light but this doesn't seem to be a problem shooting microscope videos. Newer iphones can also shoot 240 fps vid...

Re: What did I witness?
A list of microbes that eat others are dileptid, stentor, amoeba, Loxophyllum, flatworm?. Not sure what ciliates eat other live ciliates besides maybe vorticella/peritrichs. I guess most microbes will eat each other as long as they have already fallen apart.

Re: Where do you find Stentors?
I found hundreds of them once. They were on these green plants. Don't know what the plants are called but they are those little green circular things. Some stentors are big enough to see without a microscope so you can gather pond water poor it in a dish and look for them that way. https://i.imgur.c...

Re: How to package a microscope!?
Package handlers are trained to knock down onto the floor the wall of packages in a truck so they are easier to move onto the conveyor belt. Its usually a controlled slowish knockdown at least. But the odds of the package dropping hard from 5 feet is high.

Re: floaters
Are you using large wide angle eyepieces? With my swift 380t floaters are a non issue for the most part. But then I upgraded to another microscope that had bigger eyepieces and for some reason the bigger eye pieces make the floater issue vastly worse. But I just hook my microscope camera up to a mon...

Re: How clean is clean enough
I tried a swab kit. Works good but there is still always a little spec left on the sensor that takes 10 tries to finally remove them all. But I try to get it perfectly clean even from the 40x objective view which is practically impossible.

Re: Budget Friendly BH2 Video?
I forgot you can plug the camera directly into a monitor without the elgato cam link. I use the cam link because then I can use the computer at the same time without it just being hooked up to the camera. I also use it for streaming the microscope footage. So that makes the setup $110 cheaper. The t...
