Thanks to the comments of MichaelG, I could finally remove the screwed adapter ring by introducing an iron rod in one of the holes and carefully pounding it with a hammer.

I have recently purchased a Leica Wild M10 with a planapo 1.6x objective. Since the working distance is very short, about 19 mm, I have problems to manipulate the samples. I know from the manual that it is possible to detach the adapter ring at the end of the objective in order to have easier access...
