It's not a rotifer. It's a vaginicolid ciliate (Vaginicola, Cothurnia, etc.). :) We don't see the base of the base of the lorica, so I'm hesitant to propose a genus-level identification.
Very interesting! Thanks for the correction.

I'm no expert, but looks like a Rotifer in a Lorica(shell)
Nice find.

Re: Maybe a way to get the perfect image with a DSLR?

To avoid any misunderstanding :
When I said "it works" in respect of my vintage extender I was not referring to any claims of "perfect image" as in the topic title !
I was referring to the reduction of precariousness wrt to the periscope effect.

Re: Maybe a way to get the perfect image with a DSLR?

The trick I use is quite simple: a 2x tele-extender! thanks for the tip, I remembered I had a 2x/3x tele-extender somewhere still here from my filmSLR days in the '60s ! It only took me 3hrs to find it ,,,, and it works :) much less precarious than the stack of tubes and the helicoid I was using.

Re: Anyone with a Swift SW350T ?

Nice find ! I had looked at several Swift ytvids but missed that one (or maybe I saw it and missed the most relevant bit !) At 1:10 to 1:16 it answers my original post/question/raison d'etre of this topic :- The 350T does indeed have a swing out filter holder :!: that would take a dark-field thingie...

Curious Several other sites require this of their members, " require" , , who is going to set up the verification structure ? ! I am happy to say I am in England, even that I am in SW England if that assists micro/bio clarification but how do y'all know that I speak not with forked tongue ! there i...

Re: Anyone with a Swift SW350T ?

I am beginning to think that I should buy one (just to find out / explore, they are well priced here), write an "in depth" review (with pictures !) of Swift filter capabilities,,, and then sell it, and its copyright, to Swift. I wonder how much they would pay me for it   Hi Shirley, welco...

thinking it had a filter holder as they included a blue filter. However it had an iris diaphragm instead.
A reasonable assumption I would say as well !
All very strange.

Thanks for your info,input.

It seems that there are not many owners of Swifts on the forum.
Which may indicate that I should look to other manufacturers for my next purchase !

Re: Anyone with a Swift SW350T ?

All becomes mysterious : a Diaphragm becomes a Swinging Filter Holder !

I had assumed the diaphragm (in my viewing of AmazonUK) to be an Iris.
Has it been a model upgrade or just a different name for the same thing ?

Re: Anyone with a Swift SW350T ?

I have the 380t and it has a filter holder for those little plastic dark field filters. You can't go by the seller comments because they don't know what they are talking about. The 380t had similar comments saying darkfield wasn't possible even though it has the filter holder option. The reviews an...

I think IPA is an acronym often used for iso-propyl alcohol. If there was enough interest, perhaps booklet 7 could be scanned. Yes. and Yes, please, I am interested. [ There is a joke in the UK that it, IPA, should not be mistaken for India Pale Ale, dont know how well that joke carries elsewhere ]

On the matter of being a beginner !

I do not have enough time left to be anything more than a beginner in anything, in fact I have been a beginner all my life. I sometimes think that it would have been good to have been a Victorian, and to have been able to know a lot about nearly everything. But that would not have been nice sometime...
