Video Editing Software

Hello, Currently I use the Video Editor software that comes with Win 10, and I also have Windows Movie Maker. I've noticed that Movie Maker occasionally makes my monitor black out for a split second, which I've read is most likely related to drivers being incompatible as Movie Maker is no longer sup...

Hypotrich Dividing

This is a long video (over 14 minutes long) of what I've learned is a hypotrich dividing. Originally thought it was a kind of paramecium. You can forward through it at intervals vice watching the entire thing.

Re: Hello from North Carolina

Hello and welcome! I think you will find microscopy a fascinating hobby. If you live near the coast, you will have the advantage of looking at both freshwater and saltwater critters! I know from having lived in S. Carolina there are no shortages of swamps, ponds, rivers, etc. I use a 2 Megapixel eye...

Private Messages Question

I composed and sent two PM's, and I noticed they are both in the 'Outbox'. When I look in the 'Sent' box it's empty. So how do I actually send the two PM's since it appears they weren't actually sent?

Edit: Just got a reply from one so it appears they did go out after all.

Thank you

Re: Identification- whitish fibers on bricks

Was the building undergoing repairs from a storm or flood? If you are working in a humid climate could be some kind of mold / fungus. Especially if the building was abandoned for a while or was damaged, etc. If you find out, let us know!

Re: Microscope adapter for Casio EX-Z85

Thanks. My current camera is a PupilCam from Ken-A-Vision (I got it around 2005 I think). Its 2 MP and connects to my PC via USB (as many cameras do). I was just curious to see if my Casio, being a 9.1 MP, would make better videos. When I do get a new microscope I've been thinking about getting a ne...

Re: Hello. New to the Forums

Thanks again all for the great information. For Hobbyist46, my current PupilCam is a USB camera that goes in the eyepiece and I can then look at the video on my PC (which is nice). I am 6' 6" so hunching over a microscope a lot can get uncomfortable after a while. It's nice to be able to just lean b...

Unknown Ciliate

Haven't been able to find anything so far to identify this ciliate. At first I thought perhaps a different kind of stentor, but I don't think so. Got it from a neighbors fish pond. Thanks!

Microscope adapter for Casio EX-Z85

Hello, My EX-Z85 camer (small Casio hand-held job) is 9.1 MP and I'd like to see how it compares to my current Ken-A-Vision 1401KEM 2 MP PupilCam (which makes very nice microscope videos and stills). Looking for an adapter, and hoping perhaps someone knows where I might find one? No luck yet looking...

Re: Hello. New to the Forums

Pete, Thank you very much for the offer to check out your scopes. Yes, I will get you an email address via PM when I can. I'm sure that information will help. Are there any special sites that people here go to when looking for used scopes? The microscopecentral place sells both used and new of vario...

Re: Hello. New to the Forums

Thank you all for you great information. It's a lot to digest, and I will be taking notes. A lot of notes. When I was talking with the sales rep at microscopecentral.com I was thinking of just a PC microscope, and his responses / recommendations were based on that. I knew a PC microscope can functio...

Re: Hello. New to the Forums

PeteM, Thanks for the response and information. I honestly do not know much about DIC, but I've seen some image comparisons between them on the Microscopyu.com website. I've seen images of Phase Contrast phase turrets with Darkfield and DIC prism slots, so it appears you can view specimens in both m...

Hello. New to the Forums

Hello all I live near Denver, Colorado. When I was stationed in Charleston SC back in the early 90's I took a microbiology course. Turned out to be very interesting so I bought a Wolfe microscope that was oil immersion capable. I enjoy looking at the various microbes in pond water. I moved to Colora...
