thanks PeteM,
I don't particularly fancy taking the entire gearing apart, I'll have to do some reading to see whats involved!! Might not be worth the effort for a minor annoyance (its only really noticeable when using 40x).
Thanks again!

bx50 focus "overrunning"
Hi everyone, i'm not quite sure how to describe this problem i have a BX50 which is generally great. I relubricated the fine focus shaft because it was very stiff and now its great. The only issue is that the fine focus seems to overrun. ie. when you turn it in one direction, it seems to continue fo...

Re: Looking for certain Olympus infinity components
I have the intermediate attachment with the slider and u ant analyzer and I'm definitely open to an offer on it. I don't have the official polarozer but do have a very basic 3d printed replacement I can include with it. Thanks very much - I'd certainly be interested in the U-ANT, I'm not sure how m...

- A Super wide head + objectives
- Polariser (U-POT and U-ANT)

Re: poor sharpness + contrast using 40X on self prepared slides
Many thanks everyone's suggestions. I will try this all out
Does anyone know if there's any major advantage to using Xylene based mountants over water based ones? Labs must use xylene for a reason, but I would rather avoid messing with it if possible.
Thanks again!

poor sharpness + contrast using 40X on self prepared slides
Hello, I've been making self prepared slides, which look nice up to 20x, but are subpar in terms of sharpness and contrast on 40x. It's not the objective's fault, as it works much better on lab prepared slides.. I'm using an olympus BH2 with SPlan objectives (the 40X is a 0.70 for a 0.17mm coverslip...

Ciliocytophthoria
Hello, I thought I'd post a quick picture and some annotations in the hopes someone might find it interesting. I've had a cold this weekend, and thought I'd make the most of it by blowing my nose onto a slide and H&E staining the results.. Unfortunately, I do not have a trinocular head, and this pho...

Olympus BH2 running hot?
Hi all, Many thanks for your advice on my previous BH2 question. I now have olympus WHK 10x/20 eye pieces and a few SPlan objectives and image quality has definitely improved. I suppose I will sell the Nikon eyepieces and spare Zeiss objectives when I get the time... Anyway, what I have noticed is t...

Re: Olympus BH2 eye pieces
Many thanks for your responses! I will probably switch to olympus eyepieces in that case, if they are corrected for olympus objectives. Olympus SPlans are not too cheap though! I haven't noticed chromatic aberration so far (I've only noticed what I think is a lack of field flatness with the Neofluar...

Olympus BH2 eye pieces
Hi all, I have recently acquired an Olympus BH2, with a rather odd mix of objectives: Zeiss Plan 2.5x/0.08 Olympus SPlan 10x 0.30 Zeiss Neofluar 40x 0.75 Zeiss A-Plan 100/1.25 oil (I don't think I have any intention of using this.. we never use 100x at work) I currently have Nikon HKW 10x eyepieces,...
