Structures in Tomato Seed Gelatine
I have been interested in tomato seeds for some time. The seeds themselves are very hard to dissect and view because they are amazingly hard to cut and too thick to conveniently view. But viewing the gelatin that surrounds the seed is itself very interesting. There are structures suspended in the ge...

The Mopping Up of Plant Cells
The plant material has been largely digested. Only traces of cell walls are still visible. The small, active protists have declined in number and a few larger circular protists appear. Where there was a a cover of floating vegetation a few days ago, now there is just a green film. https://youtu.be/S...

Lumpy Cells inside a Greenpepper
When you look inside a green pepper you see a lot of liquid-filled lumps, even with a naked eye, These are not really cells even though they may look like it. Cells are much smaller. The cells are like tiny bumps inside larger lumps.

The Failing Integrity of Plant Cells
This is the last of failing integration in the cell structure of a piece of fruit decaying in water. You can still make out some faint cell structure. But protists are quickly converting the solid structure into a liquid.

Two Poems about Art
Fingers on Strings and Mouths on Tubes I keep watching orchestras. I watch choirs as well. The calm of soul carriers, gathered in chairs, facing books with bits of soul smeared on them. We took that language from before birth. We always nimbed and nammed it. But it began to fill space and moved betw...

The Late Afternoon
It's quiet out. Nothing reaches far enough to obliterate the distance. The sound is muted by the walls, originally designed to protect me. The quiet was designed, it was mandated by the inventors of sanity. It was designed to protect us from danger and death. It was a wise invention for shared self ...

The Part That Sunk
I don't know why this part of the biome sunk to the bottom. The population of organisms is much the same as the part of the biome that floated, perhaps a little denser. The large round ciliates are, perhaps, a little more numerous.

After the Bottom Sunk
The protists are engaged in the degradation of the biome. Among their activities they are converting the materials into something heavier which sinks in the water. What is left on the surface is a very active floating biome.

Vegetation Trace Consumed by Protists
It took a few days for the active biome to consume vegetation in the water. The protists attacked the vegetation and now have nearly devoured it. This is a very active and hungry biome.

The protists are consuming and processing vegetation but have not yet generated a dese biofilm. We can see them through a water cover which is already laced with digested matter from the leaf.

Less than two days ago I enriched the biosphere by dumping the larger chunks of decaying vegetation and adding a few fresh leaves. The growth of the biome has accelerated very fast, digesting the new leaf sections I dropped into the water.

The water sample is still occupied with life but the high densities are gone. Now it's a matter of watching for the growth p...

Biofilm Entering a Terminal Stage
Portions of the biofilm seem to have become so dense that the growth of the protists is impeded by overcrowding. The water is covered by a crust from the biofilm. There is a lot less motion in the crowded field.

On the inside of the banana peel is a waxy flexible ribbon-like tissue that appears to serve in some kind of structural binding function. The cells are quite large and octagonal (roughly) in shape. The tissue is ribbon-like, unlike most skin cells I've seen.

The middle level shows a high density of moving, active protists, somewhat smaller in size. The lower level does appear to contai...

Every time you eat you a green pepper you find these little juicy bits attached to the inside of the shell. They consist of several types of fluid-filled cells. They look almost like external growths. I don't know what they are for.
