Olympus PlanC 40x 0.65 versus UplanFLN 40x 0.75

Hi,

Is there a noticable difference in resolution / image quality between these 2 objectives:

Re: Olympus CX31 stuck objective

It worked ! I removed the non-stuck objectives and the microscope head. I could not remove the turret. On the CX31there is a single central screw located on the outside between the objectives. You need a short screwdriver with a large tinny blade that I did not have. I did: - cool the stuck objectiv...

Olympus CX31 stuck objective

Hi, I have an objective that is stuck in the revolving part of the microscope. Even if I apply considerable force, I am not able to unscrew it. I bought the Olympus second hand and I was never able to remove it, so it is probable stuck for a considerable amount of time. If I remove the head of the m...

Re: olympus UPLANApo 100x 1.35 Oil Iris

Hi,

What is the scope of repairs that can be done?

The scratches on the metal are a matter of esthetics but suppose that the coating on the lens has been eroded away, is there something that can be done about that?

olympus UPLANApo 100x 1.35 Oil Iris

Hi, I have a possibility to buy this second hand objective but it looks damaged. I cannot inspect it out of hand so I have to rely on the attached picture. Apart from the scratches, it looks like there is some cover over the lens missing. Normally when you see pictures of these objectives there is l...

Re: ToupTekView for OMAX camera

Hi,

Just to let you know, I bought the OMAX 5MP USB3.0 A3550U3 camera and it works with the ToupView software.
I did not even try the older OMAX version of the software.

The image quality is excellent and the camera is very responsive.
Now I can tune the focus from my computer screen.

YoupTekView for OMAX camera

Hi, I am considering buying an OMAX 5MP USB3.0 A3550U3 camera but I have a question about the software: Omax uses the ToupTekView software package. The most recent version on their website is 3.7.11443.20180326 (dating from march 2018) see link below: https://omaxmicroscope.com/Drivers/A35X-WIN-18-0...

Re: Olympus Ach 100x/1.25 Oil iris

Interesting remark. I do indeed tend to go for the smallest aperture which does not lead to optimal balance between resolution and contrast. The samples I examine, mushroom cells, spores, usually do not have that much contrast. In some cases you can use stains to enhance the contrast but not always....

Re: Olympus Ach 100x/1.25 Oil iris

All the objectives are marked with the infinity symbol, also the Ach 100x one. I followed your suggestions: - I checked if the Ach objective was clean under a stereo microscope at 40x magnification. It looked clean no scratches but I could see some shallow dotted craters mostly at the edge of the le...

Olympus Ach 100x/1.25 Oil iris

Hi, I acquired a second hand Olympus CX31, with 4x, 10x ,40x and 100x objectives. The 4x, 10x, 40x are Plan C objectives. The 100x objective is an Ach 100x /1.25 oil with iris (1.25-0.55). I have the impression that the Ach with aperture set at 1.25 is not that sharp. Reducing the aperture quickly i...
