Re: Taking Apart Dialux Trinocular Head

For those who have the same Leitz FSA Phototube, the replacement that I ordered (Which fits perfectly) was a 4T5/245 Timing Belt. It Is 245 mm long, has a T5mm pitch, 4mm width, and 49 teeth.

Re: Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera

Please forgive the pedantry, but, according to Sony it is a 1/2.3 sensor ... which is significantly smaller than 1/2 [but still a very useable size] Apologies. You are correct. My brain is suffering from information overload! My problem is I need to use a corrective eyepiece to pair with my Leitz p...

Re: Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera

Hey Guys, Given the size of this camera (it's pretty damn small), might it be the best option to position it at the intermediate image plane? Or should I have some sort of optics in the Trinocular photo tube and position the sensor above the photo tube. The sensor 1/2" , so I assume I would need som...

Taking Apart Dialux Trinocular Head

Quite annoyingly, the adjustment knob on my Dialux trinocular head that allows for redirecting of light either to eyepieces or photo tube broke yesterday. No matter how much you turn it, nothing happens. So, I took apart the trinocular head and found that there is a toothed rubber belt that has worn...

Re: In the market for new oculars, any suggestions?

So I bought two Periplan 12.5x Oculars. One GF 12.5x M and One GF 12.5x/18. I now know that the GF 12.5x M is incompatible with my Dialux 20 EB without a spacer ring TL160. Anybody know where I can find this part or a reasonable hack? Otherwise I think I have to return this ocular...

Leitz PL APO vs NPL Fluorotar

Hi guys, Sorry if this has already been asked but: Is it worth the extra bucks to pick up APO lenses and skip the Fluorotar lenses. How big is the difference? Also, why are Leitz lenses in the 170 mm tube length so much cheaper than the 160mm? Also, can Fluorotar and APO lenses be mixed and matched ...

In the market for new oculars, any suggestions?

I'm looking to spend under $200, and preferably would like oculars that will fit my zeiss standard, IM35 and Leitz Dialux 20 EB. Are higher end oculars something I should splurge on, or should I focus on other things if I am eventually overhauling the whole scope.

Re: Leitz Dialux EB

Nevermind, I think the reason was the filter set on the fluorescence light source adapter. This is annoying though, will I have to take off the fluorescent housing "arm" each time I want to do white light microscopy??

Leitz Dialux EB

Hi Guys, I have a dialux EB that I just set up. For some reason, the voltage reading on the front of the stand is only reading 3v and the light seems awful yellow... Does anybody know what might be causing this? I checked the fuses inside for continuity and everything seemed fine. The bulb is super ...

Re: High CRI LEDs - Olympus True Color, Nichia Optisolis and Yuji VTC D50

So the Zeiss Standard I have seems to have the collector lens and frosted glass built into the female part of the light tube. So would I just have to adjust the distance between the LED and the frosted glass/ collector lens until I can get an image of the LED centered on the condenser front focal pl...

Re: High CRI LEDs - Olympus True Color, Nichia Optisolis and Yuji VTC D50

Now ... to answer your original question: It probably depends on the optics of your illuminator. If it’s designed for a compact filament, I think you will be disappointed. So right now I don't have an illuminator. My stepfather closed down his lab 20 years ago and has two Zeiss IM35 Inverted Scopes...

Hey guys, this retailer sells small quantities of the Nichia Optisolis LEDs: https://www.virence.com/ I'm considering getting 4 soldered by them onto their VR21P4 MCPCB: https://static.wixstatic.com/media/5b2572_60ac57f4604f43b4bfb7bbb1e69bd141~mv2_d_1400_1400_s_2.jpg/v1/fill/w_500,h_500,al_c,q_85,u...

Zeiss Standard Microscope and Mirror Woes

Has anybody tried this quick and dirty method of making a FSM?

My Zeiss standard has a 45 degree mirror that is completely shot. I have an old mirror laying around from a recent bathroom remodel and figured i'd give it a try.
