Re: Leica M80 Plan Objective
Thanks. Just saw this. Im currently in Costa Rica and only now checked my messages. I appreciate the response! I can clearly see an improvement. Pictures are generally not as discerning as the human eye. I am still looking for a planapo at a reasonable price, reasonable to me that is. I have my eye ...

Re: Leica M80 Plan Objective
To be clear I agree the Leica Plan 1x objective is probably well worth the $800 especially given the original suggested pricing. I myself tend to try and get the maximum performance for the minimum dollar ( cheapskate--LOL). I have been looking at Leica Plan Apo objectives wondering if the performan...

Re: Leica M80 Plan Objective
I cannot attest to the performance of the Leica Plan 1x objective #10450167 vs the Wild Plan 1x objective I am currently using. However, I can attest to the superior performance of the Plan 1x Wild objective over the Leica 1x achromat. Given I purchased the Wild objective for less than $200 vs the $...

Re: Higher power eyepieces beyond 10x?
It is recommended on Nikon's website for stereo microscopes when you want to increase magnification without losing DOF increase the eyepiece magnification. Increasing the magnification of the objective reduces the DOF. However, keep in mind that increasing the magnification via the objective vs the ...

There is a LWD condenser for that model having an na of 0.5 you may want to look for on e-bay.

Re: Has anyone ever used LWD condenser?
I agree with PeteM. The resolution of my leitz objectives with the phase ring always seem to be slightly less sharp although the na listed on the barrel is identical between the two. Also specimen thickness can result in some additional distortion when using a phase-contrast set-up.

Re: Has anyone ever used LWD condenser?
Most dedicated inverted scopes have an na of 0.55 or less. The LWD objectives commonly used, tend to have a lower na compared to their normal distance counterparts. Thus, the two work well together. Having a condenser of 0.9 na and objectives of 0.65 or less would have no benefit.

Re: Leitz Plan 1.6X objective
A historical search yielded a low of $75 for the 170 TL version and a high of $299 for the 160 TL version. Hmm..I may list it for $250 or best offer. I also have an extra 2.5x as well. I may just list that one and hang on to the 1.6x for a bit longer.

Re: Leitz Plan 1.6X objective
It is quite some special objective requiring the fitting condenser. The offer you found on Ebay is ridiculous and will never sell. 150 USD is what I personally would pay for it but you may find somebody who is willing to pay more. I definitely agree with you on the $1750 That is why I asked..LOL. G...

Leitz Plan 1.6X objective
So I have been looking over my collection of objectives. I have a Leitz 160 TL Plan 1.6X objective I was considering selling. I went to e-bay to get an idea of what price to set. Generally, I simply list it for less than the lowest priced unless I consider it below my personal valuation of the objec...

Re: Inverted microscope viewing
Gluing or otherwise adding a coverslip to the bottom of say a petri dish in order to use higher resolution objectives has been discussed on the forum. You can actually purchase petri dishes with 0.17 mm glass inserts. Inverted microscopes use objectives designed for larger distances and thicker glas...

Re: Tardigrade 100x
No problem Microplan. I was thinking more along the lines of showing the complete specimen at low magnification for a few seconds simply to introduce the subject. Then switch objectives gradually increasing magnification for a few seconds at a time. The majority of the video would be focused on your...

Re: Tardigrade 100x
Very nice. I find it helpful when introducing topics/videos like this one to start with a lower magnification lens, so we can see the subject in its entirety. Then ramp up the magnification in steps, until you reach the target magnification (100x). After viewing the video, I had a desire to see the ...

Actually he lists his location as Belarus. Given the proximity to Russia etc it could impact delivery. Although that did not seem to be the case with me.Scarodactyl wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 1:15 amBeing located in Russia probably makes ecommerce difficult right now.
