Re: My two microscopes
Hi kville79-I’ve got mainly lower end Olympus scopes but I do have that Nikon S type with seperate fine focus knob like yours (except mine has a early Kohler type body with a back tube I just stick a torch in) and have found its speed in changing fine focus for chasing microbes moving above and bel...

Greetings, I bought several boxes of lab parts and accessories and I need to sell or trade away the stuff I don't need or don't intend on using before I get anything new (per the fiance). So I'll be selling them here first before I post them on ebay, because I'm not looking to make any real profit, ...

My two microscopes
Hi, I'd thought I'd share my scopes. I'm new to the game, so my scopes aren't the best, and I have parts on order to improve them. but here they are The first is my Selopt petrographic microscope. It's a very basic Korean made student petrographic scope I picked up for about $200 shipped on ebay. It...

Re: Not microbes, but interesting - Zircons
I do remember that the initial processing was pulverizing the rock and sorting it to where it wasn't larger than 40 microns, so that should be the size of the largest grain

Not microbes, but interesting - Zircons
I came across this picture from when I was processing one of two samples I helped with, of 200 sandstone samples that a professor and a friend of mine collected in the Andes. It took several days just to get to the point where you could manually separate zircons from sorted crushed sandstone sample,...

Re: Just purchased a bunch of mid-century Zeiss components, need help identifying
I think image 4 is for a Zeiss OPMI. Image 5 shows an older Zeiss-Winkel drawing attatchment. I don't know this type, I have a newer model. To use it you probably have to adjust microscope and room lighting to the right match. It is worth a try even today and still has it's uses IMO. Image 4 is an ...

Mark,
That's an amazing looking process, did anyone make a video of the instruction? Film photographer as well, and I've always found traditional processes interesting.

Re: Anyone have any experience with using 35mm film for microscopy?
In film times Olympus was very strong when it came to marcro and micro work. Some models had an off the film plan metering system that was usefull for micro photography. But when a Zeiss Photomicroscope was available it got the most use for its dependability and ease of use. Recently I had over 200...

Re: Anyone have any experience with using 35mm film for microscopy?
I have heard the Wild film systems were the best (I guess MPS series) with great metering in particular. Those were made with Leitz, but are a later vintage than the one you have there. Thry can be had for reasonable prices, I just saw most of one for sale on facebook a few weeks back. You'd need t...

Re: Anyone have any experience with using 35mm film for microscopy?
The Gossen LunaPro meter had a microscope attachment. Probably around used. Once calibrated you could replace an eyepiece with the meter and get a sense of exposure. Curious to know what you see as the advantage of using film? Just enjoy the craft of it?? Definitely more for the craft of it, there ...

Anyone have any experience with using 35mm film for microscopy?
I enjoy my film cameras as much as I enjoy my microscopes... so in an effort to combine the two interest I acquired a Leica microscope adapter
I was wondering if anyone has any experience on how to measure light for proper exposure or any other little bits of knowledge that may be helpful?
