Yes, that rotating Zeiss stage will fit the screw pattern on a Carl Zeiss Standard.

It helps to know where you are located for shipping costs. You can just replace the whole focus block.

Re: Adding Darkfield to Old Zeiss Standard; Possible?
Can you take a photo showing your condenser holder? It appears you have a Zeiss Standard Junior with a slip in through the bottom condenser and does not fit the slide it from the top condenser. You would need to find a compatible slip through the bottom condenser with filter carrier.

Re: Need help with a stuck part on a Zeiss PM3 tube head
Probably the easiest way is once you unscrewed the knurled part, pull off the C clamp holding the spring and plunger, then you can just pull the spring off one end and the plunger out the other end, clean everything and then reassemble.

Re: Need help with a stuck part on a Zeiss PM3 tube head
If memory serves me right, the the unit needs to be unscrewed out and not pulled out. The set screw keeps it from turning. I put tape around the exposed threads if it needs more force than just the fingers and unscrew the unit. Then soak in a solvent or WD-40 and work the plunger back and forth. The...

Re: Zeiss Rotating Stage
There are three Carl Zeiss circular rotating stages. Two are show below: The one on the right is more common, is less expensive, has a smaller stage area and the x-y controls are on the side. The one on the left tend to be more expensive, has a larger stage area and the x-y controls are on top of th...

Re: Carl Zeiss Optovar
Some Optovars have a lever in the back which swings in and out an analyser. They make some without levers with the space in the back where the lever would go. The bertrand lens is controlled by the knurled piece under the part which rotates the optovar to various positions when in the Ph position. S...

Re: Zeiss Turret Condenser Question
There is only one way the ring will fit with access cut outs for each post of iris position and no cut outs for the phase positions. If the cover is on and fits, it's probably on right.

Re: Zeiss Turret Condenser Question
To operate the iris leaves, hold the bottom of the condenser from turning and turn only the silver ring which controls the iris opening and closing. To turn to another prism or opening, rotate the bottom of the condenser.
Observations of the phase annuli seem to be damaged/unusual.

Re: Zeiss Turret Condenser Question
All the iris openings are controlled as one unit when the outer silver ring is turned. If one or more iris leaves are stuck, you will not be able to open or close any of the other ones. Most likely if they are not open and closing, they are gunked up with hardened grease or rusted leaves and need to...

I would also suggest staining is the way to go. Back in the days when sailors were coming back from shore leave with a dripping pecker and pain on peeing, a few days later, we would gram stain their secretions for diagnosis of N gonorrhea. After the gram stain, we can differentiate between gram posi...

Starting from the left, -First is a rotating analyzer for POL microscopy -Second is for Darkfield stop for an inverted scope -Third is an analyzer -Forth is a single beam DIC slide which has a analyzer on one side and DIC prism on the other side. It seems to be badly delaminated. The knob on the end...

Re: Can I swap the head and focusing block on this late Zeiss universal? s
How does the focusing block come off? this plastic knob one has the 2mm travel limit, the metal one I want to swap it with does not have that limit, so that would be nice..... To remove the focus block, remove the stage and holder. Then remove the two screws on the top plate above the stage/condens...

Not sure what I'll do with the Universal - the Epi head only takes one objective at a time, so is a faff currently. Also get a strong pink cast in normal epi which can is progressively removed with polarizer and analyzer but uses a lot of light. The DF is good though. Need to source a normal nosepi...

Re: Tungsten needle for diatom manipulation.
I have never used tungsten needles. My only concern would be if the tungsten needle may have less give/flex than the glass needle and more apt to damage a diatom frustule than a glass needle? I would have to try and see. Also glass 'erodes' whereas tungsten would not. I believe Klaus Kemp used glass...

Test 2. I decided to try just adding a bit more mountant. Came out a little better but still some breakage, but it may have happened because the coverslip wasn't sitting right and I had to move it a couple mm. May also be the reason one of the Biddulphia moved. Taken with B&L SZ7 at 7 setting and Ca...

Ballistol is a solvent and lubricant. Of the three I would use a drop of Ballistol on each side and then work the action back and fourth.

You see the serrated area on both sides on top, just push/pull the eyepieces. It maybe very stiff from hardened grease. No need to unscrew anything.

Charles, I tried punching the spacers from an aluminum foil (as per your post), but it did not work for me. MicroBob has suggested flat stainless shim rings. I bought some, 18x12x0.1 mm, to try. More for dry mounts, but maybe it will work with Pleurax as well. The only problem I see with rings are ...

Would be interested to learn where you sourced the spacer discs please. I take a hyperdermic need which has the beveled end clipped straight across and poke it into thin aluminum foil or disposable pie plates.
