However, if I use a stronger the light, doesn't that counter my needed for low light/contrast? Or does the contrast remain while the actual light increases? I'm using an incandescent bulb. I've yet to switch to LED, I wonder if that might help. . The contrast ratios are governed by the optical conf...

I mean, I'm basically performing Koehler illumination, and then closing the iris diaphragm to reveal the bacteria and smaller organisms... I need to do this for my counts and reports. I suppose I could just take stills for those moments and count that way. But when following cilliates around and fi...

Re: Rising Cam E3ISPM 20MP Test Run - A bit confused

Phone cameras are excellent, yet the alignment of the phone over the eyepiece is too much of a nuisance for permanent use. Just my opinion. For sure, which is why I was trying to get a spare phone mounted to the phototube, as a more permanent setup. But I just don't have the resources of playing ar...

Hi, I've been through this EXACT-SAME scenario - no way of capturing fast-enough frame rate video to document dissections under my stereo 'scope in my case. Having been through the same process of comparing USB cameras (ToupCams) to DSLRs for still-capture I came to the clear conclusion that in ter...

. I would hope that the cable it came with is perfectly suitable. You may need to re-think your lighting : Low light requires long exposures, and this takes precedence over a nominal frame-rate :( MichaelG. . P.S. I tried asking in several forums about using a phone mounted to an eyepiece in the phototube, but no one gave me the light of day 🤣 At least then I could get a decent frame rate. Re: Rising Cam E3ISPM 20MP Test Run - A bit confused

One thing I've learned from 50 years of photography (landscape, astrophotography and now microscopy), it is a black hole of money, gear and time. Light and focus are ephemeral and one must be ready for a lifetime of failures and victories. Enjoy the ride..... :) Haha I'm definitely starting to real...

Re: Rising Cam E3ISPM 20MP Test Run - A bit confused

This eBay used Accuscope 3025 is perhaps somewhat relevant. Its trinocular phototube appears to be quite long - so, a camera sensor, if fitted on that microscope, would be even more remote than on your Accuscope and C-mount adapter, isn't it ? Or is the specific Accusope camera so different from th...

Rising Cam E3ISPM 20MP Test Run - A bit confused

Hello all, I finally got my hands on the Rising Cam E3ISPM 20MP c-mount camera. It surprisingly arrived in record speed, was due to arrive on April 10th, but's here already! It came in great shape, and was pretty much ready to plug and play. https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.90426...

A part of me wishes I spent less on the scope, and more on the camera hahaha Since one can only photograph what one sees through the microscope - you did put your money in the right place. ;) Good point :) I guess I'm just a bit frustrated that I haven't had a clear path to make that jump into micr...

Re: Camera Purchase Paralysis

Given your desire to make measurements, you might consider getting a camera with measurement software. Forum member Robert Berdan recently did a review of a $600 Rising Cam 10 mp. camera with a 1" Sony sensor. Try to locate that thread - he did a great job comparing some alternatives. The Rising Ca...

Camera Purchase Paralysis

Hello all! Hope everyone is having a good start to their new year. Several months ago I purchased a used trinocular Accuscope 3025 and have slowly gotten more comfortable using it. I'm at a point in my studies where I need to start recording my findings for reports and such. The scope came with a 1x...

Re: Matching camera with C-mount

You mean to ask where I live? South Florida I asked because I have a couple, extra, used micro four thirds bodies I picked up while researching cameras to mount on a 1" c-mount photoport. You could use one to evaluate the microscope and photoport, and get some idea of what you might then need. I pa...

... Seeing as I have the 1x already, I will need to find a camera with a 1" sensor? I guess this limits my choices. Re: Matching camera with C-mount

It's a digital camera, so there is no fixed magnification, just resolution. Even for a film camera the negative gets magnified somewhat arbitrarily when making a print. You can shrink or enlarge the image on your monitor to whatever size you want. So-- you can record video without an eyepiece and w...

Re: Matching camera with C-mount

My scope was purchased used, and it came with a 1x c-mount adapter. No lenses inside, just a tube , hence the 1x. IMHO, a cheap eyepiece camera (I mean, 60-70USD or even less; Toupcam camera or equivalent) is a good starting point, in the absence of previous experience with photomicrography of soil...

Re: Looking for Entry/Mid Range Scope

FWIW, the pros and cons of LED lamps have been covered on the forum before. Pros are that they are cheaper to build into a scope, the bulbs run cool, and they rarely (with the good ones) burn out. Cons are that they usually have spotty color rendition. A tungsten halogen bulb has a CRI (color rende...

From my understanding, and I asked a few dealers about this feature, some scopes come with a condenser focus knob, so you can move it up and down and focus the condenser to the slide (by holding a paper/tissue to the light source and focusing the condenser till the edge of the tissue is crisp. Looking for Entry/Mid Range Scope

This list exemplifies the sort of (age, brand, features, price, etc.) I'm looking for if a...
