Re: Hello from Trinidad
Tempted but in 3 months or so I'll be out again with the Paleo guys and hope to get some more samples ( hope is the key ). I can offer to send you some then as currently I have about 20 slides and only 2 are really good. Remember these come up and are separated from cuttings or cores after a drill b...

Re: 60x objective for swift sw380T
I'm keeping the swift as there are other things I wish to look at with it but adding a complementary scope eventually looks like the best solution. I'm in the Caribbean so if its on amazon or ebay I can get it no problem, alibaba and banggood not so much as they don't ship here direct. I should poin...

Re: 60x objective for swift sw380T
The Paleo guys use metallurgical microscopes which are rather expensive, an objective on one of those is 2-3x the price of my scope. I get the samples already air mounted in a concave slide with cover or in a paper envelope for the larger ones I need to place in a slide myself. All are .2-1mm in siz...

Re: 60x objective for swift sw380T
I use .5mm concave slides on the fossils, not much choice here as they would get crushed under regular slides and that already rules out use of the 100x regardless.

60x objective for swift sw380T
All So learning my new scope I'm deathly afraid of using the 100x not wanting to mess with oil (irony of all things considering where I work lol). I noticed everyone mentioning changing the 100x with a 60x objective so my question to other sw380 users is which 60x is Parfocal with the existing set a...

Hello from Trinidad
Hello all, new here saying hi. I'm an engineer working in the oil/gas industry and have a small collection of "bugs", fossilized foraminifera, tiny trilobites and other Microfossils the Paleontologist save for me when they analyze cuttings from exploration wells. I was using a kids microscope for ye...
