A 1937 Bausch & Lomb refractometer. Have downloaded sdpecs and instructions. It is truly dirty and grimey. Any idea how to clean it?

It is worth it?

Is that robust microscope with its 25mm objectives gonna make me really glad I bought it, or is the result gonna be much the same as my smaller scopes?

Inverted scope

I am considering the addition of an inverted scope to my collection. I already have several wonderful microscopes..
Is inverted microscopy worth the investment?

Narrow wavelength blue filter

Hi folks. My brother is looking for a narrow range blue filter.
I understand the exact wave length doesn't matter provided he knows what it is. It needs to be plus or minus about five percent. Just something to cover the transmitted illuminator. Any ideas would be helpful
Thanks, Greg

Flat crystals. I think they're 32mm the next size smaller would be 30mm.

Cleaning the 100x objective

I've had some difficulty getting the oil off the 100x objective lens. That piece of glass is very small indeed.
I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks

Re: Home made Rheinburg filters

I use a 32mm EK (brand name) hole punch - Amazon - $12.00, to make both solid filters and similar EK punches in smaller sizes to make center stops and rings. I use spot light gel plastic in a rainbow of colors to make very nice filters. I mount them on 32mm glass watch crystals. Mike Swartz has a bo...

What seems to be missing is mutual respect. It is missing everywhere.. I'm an old man now. I'm not used to this slam and interrupt the other guy just for the sake of making people angry. What can possibly be the point? It ain't funny.

True. I have watched things being destroyed by too much glycerin .

Re: Can carboxymethylcellulose be used in place of methylcellulose?

I don't know hoe to spell it, but can you get Metamucil. It has been used to slow things down in pond water. Also glycerin has been used. They both increase the viscosity of the water. It's hard to swim in something that seem as thick as syrup.

Hopefully you can find Cytrocell, a dietary product made with methycellulose, and used to thicken liquids, common in the drug section of grocery stores or at the pharmacy.

In windows 10, many of my MD cameras work with the Windows camera app. Nothing fancy so far as editing is concerned, but the images are reasonably ok.

Re: Pond sample question

I had my own aquarium setup for three years and did very well with it. Then in June I switched over to plant life and got away from pond stuff. Things were going well. I bought a bag of planting mix to use with different experiments with plants using a hydroponic system. Last week I examined a drop ...

If you haven't found the answer to this yet, please give brand and model number of the scope. More help may be available through personal experience of others.
