Question to owners of Laborlux-D from 1967
Hi everyone! I need help from the owners of old black Leitz Laborlux-D microscope from 1967, the one that has a slot for filter slides above the revolver. Here is a link to Google saved image of the microscope from an old eBay ad: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MzQ5WDUwMA==/z/t5wAAOxygPtSsR9Z/$_3.JPG?set...

Re: image quality loss due to cover-slip thickness deviation
For the best obtainable quality one just needs objectives that can be adjusted for the variability of the cover-slip thickness. I only do not know if all microscope manufacturers have them on offer. Leitz, Zeiss, Nikon and Olympus offer such objectives since about 50 years ago. A very healthy bank-...

Re: water bears and moss?
I wind water bears regularly in dry moss when collecting for nematodes (my research object).
If you can, look for mosses on rocks, or rooftops of old houses.

Re: Is there a decent photoshop replacement?
To add to my previous post: ImageJ has a number of plug-ins that do stacking, but I have not tried an of them (I use Zerene and Combine ZP regularly).

Re: Early Leitz Laborlux II stand with eyepieces and condenser
So, I guess I will just keep it. I will put my phase contrast setup on it. Instead of having to switch nosepiece/condenser on one microscope, I'll just have two microscopes instead. I wish I had more space.

Re: Early Leitz Laborlux II stand with eyepieces and condenser
It is indeed a very elegant microscope. And a lot smaller than Ortholux. Since it takes the same accessories as Ortholux, I would have kept it instead, but I am so used to the low position of focusing mechanism that Ortholux has. Similar to my Nikon Eclipse at work. I think this Laborlux II was spec...

Early Leitz Laborlux II stand with eyepieces and condenser
In addition to my Ortholux stand that I am using and keeping, I have a spare early Laborlux (sometimes designated as "Laborlux II") that needs a new home. First of all some sellers background - I have not posted much on this forum yet, but here is my page on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/usr/sh00rik Pic...

I have one of the LM-Scope adapters that I use at work. Note that they have two different versions, one for APS-C sensors, and one for full-frame. Quality-vise they are good.

Re: Identification help - Leitz accessory
The edge is very sharp, hence I assumed it was a blade. I do not exclude the fact that it might have housed the prism of some kind and was part of a bigger device, Unfortunately, in the bin of random bits and pieces that this item was found, there was nothing that it can connect to. Thank you for yo...

This is a Pule, or " Donkey's Pet" cheese slicer. For the 600.00/lb. rare cheese, made from smoked Donkey's milk at the Zasavica Special Nature Reserve about 60km. west of Belgrade, a finer grade of cheese slicer is required. The focusing eyepiece allows the user to get a degree of accuracy previou...

Identification help - Leitz accessory
Among a number of ordinary and uninteresting objectives and eyepieces that I have, there are few, which purpose or identification are not clear to me. This is the first of them: DSC02146.JPG DSC02148.JPG DSC02149.JPG DSC02151.JPG It consists of somewhat unusual eyepiece fitted into a tube with what ...

New member, Stockholm, Swedish Museum of Natural History
Hello everybody, My name is Oleksandr and I currently work at the Swedish Museum of Natural History. Microscopy was an important part of my job for past 20 years, although my first microscope I received even earlier. Recently I also became interested in the vintage microscopy equipment and non-scien...
