If shipping isn't too much and you get the seller to accept an offer this would probably be pretty good. The 20x lens is nice bonus too.

Olympus E (Phase Contrast, Oil Darkfield, Plan Brightfield) + AO20 (Oil Darkfield)
Hi Everyone, A few months ago I set out on the quest for microscopes. I got a lot of very useful help from people on this forum and promised that I would post some pictures once I finally got my systems together. After using both systems a bit, I've decided to keep the American Optical 20 and sell t...

Re: wanted: textbook/course suggestions for Pathology, Haematology
Thanks Eddie. It doesn't bother me if anyone is harsh on live blood analysis...but I always appreciate knowing the reasons why. Perhaps after I've studied hematology for a year or more I will come to the same conclusions...but for right now it's hard to imagine it as completely useless. Definitely g...

Bill: Thanks, found a used copy for 8 bucks! Eddie: Thanks for the extensive list. For the Clinical Hematology Principles will I be missing much by buying a 2e rather than the newer 2011 4e? I'm interested in both hematology and live blood, to me, it's kind of odd that there's even a divide...it's k...

wanted: textbook/course suggestions for Pathology, Haematology
Good day, I am interested in obtaining knowledge about haematology and pathology. If I had the time I would just do a lab tech diploma, but I don't, so it's going to be DIY at home learning :) I've been looking for good books/courses that will teach me everything I need to understand all I see in my...

I can't tell if you're being serious or not Apo.
There's definitely no tooth fairies or insects that I know of anywhere near my head..
In the whole sebum plug I only found ten or so of these things..
I thought maybe some kind of fungal expression?

yeah, I picked up 3 300w led panel lights a few months ago...they are working well for growing cherry tomatoes and green peppers..soso for lettuce/spinach..not so good for larger type tomatoes. it was a little white bodied spider with black legs...about 1mm or so.
I could see what looked like fluid and little air bubbles flowing through his legs at one point...hard to capture that holding my cam though.

Shot using my Olympus KHC mono and my canon t5i simply holding the camera by hand without a lens on and being as still as I could :) Found this little spider crawling on me in my truck after picking up some immersion oil this morning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7qB7tFffgs http://www.youtube.com...

Re: New here and please help me choose an appropriate compound microscope
I joined the forum a couple weeks ago asking for help in choosing a scope and received a lot of very useful feedback. At first I almost bought an omax trinoc with oil darkfield and plan lenses and DSLR adapter and scope case for ~1500 cdn. If I added a phase contrast kit the price soared another 800...

Re: cleaning white corrosion off of a condenser?-and where to get a scope repair tool in usa?
the CLR did a beauty job of cleaning up the corrosion...it also removed some of the black finish within the condenser parts, but I don't think it's a big deal. I managed to rebuild the diaphragm but it wasn't easy lining up all those holes!! I see why they say to never take it apart :) I did take be...

cleaning white corrosion off of a condenser?-and where to get a scope repair tool in usa?
Hi all, I received a couple new condensers yesterday and decided to try and outfit my scope with them. When I went to take off the old condenser, I couldn't figure out how...I had removed everything I thought I needed to to get it off but it wouldn't budge... So I ended up taking some more screws of...

Re: immersion oil in canada (bonus for calgary)
interesting you mentioned that. I too have a bottle of castor oil and gave it a try...it seemed to work fine, but from what I read it has a lower refractive index (~1.48) than most immersion oils (~1.51-1.52)..
Are you mostly looking at thin sections?

It's actually pretty tough to find this at a reasonable price...most people want 7-10$ for a 1/4 oz + 10$ shipping.. The 'guy around the corner' I found in calgary is selling 1/4oz for 20$cdn., and 30$ for 100ml of permount.. Anyone heard of this stuff? I think the brand is Jarvist? seems to be the ...

In searching for stuff to clean my lenses with, I've found several references to Xylol...and it seems that Xylol is just a brand name of Xylene. I'm definitely after video; both for live blood and watching water creatures. I see there are 'new' usb 3.0 cams that are supposedly fast enough for video... I'm guessing I'll have to spend 200+ for a trinoc head and 100+ for a suitable adapter... I can get a 5mp omax usb 3.0 cam for <400... still a...

what kind of adapter to use DSLR on a monocular scope?
Hi all, I have an olympus KHC monocular scope. I am interested in taking photos/videos and need an appropriate adapter. The microscope has a removable eyepiece and I believe it is 23mm in size. I have a canon t5i DSLR camera that I would like to use. Since all the adapters I have seen are at least 1...
