Re: Nikon Infinity 200 and Zeiss Infinity 160 Work Just fine on Vintage 160
This is what an Optvar for an Axioscope looks like.... a little different from a Universal or Phomi https://www.ebay.com/itm/255064946524?hash=item3b630e375c:g:CHsAAOSwXvBg~E-G I assume that like telescope optics this barlow has zero affect on the focal length, the tube lens screws into the entry of...

Re: Nikon Infinity 200 and Zeiss Infinity 160 Work Just fine on Vintage 160
The Axio is an infinity scope by design. When you use an Optvar with it the tube lens moves to the base of the Optvar from the base of the Head. When I take out the optvar, I am left with a scope that is a 160mm "finite" scope. It likes vintage Neofluars, etc. It also likes infinity objectives, from...

Re: Nikon Infinity 200 and Zeiss Infinity 160 Work Just fine on Vintage 160
A zeiss Axio is a 160MM tube length nominally infinity corrected microscope. I have an Optvar with mine. The tube lens inserts into the Optvar in this configuration. When I remove the Tube lens it becomes a 160mm tube length microscope. No intermediate optics between the objective and Eyepiece. I sh...

No parafocality isnt going to happen obviously, unless I had a similar series all the way around. Just had a couple of high end Objectives and thought I would give them a go...... was surprised at the results. Would someone far more experienced than I possibly find problems, likely, but compared to ...

THanks I am using a metal cleaner and goof off, to get the nasty stuff off after a soap and water cleaning. I ordered some buffing compound for cars, and then I will finish it with renaissance wax. Will post the results here in a week or so.

Re: LW Scientific "Innovation" vs Amscope "T720" - Any Difference?
I have done alot of exploring lately with comparing modern and vintage optics for some reason I find Zeiss 160mm APOs and NeoFluars to be a bit better than infinity Achros, at a small fraction of the price of Infinity objectives to boot. I would buy a used 160mm body, $100 max (an old zeiss as an ex...

Help me to decide which low power scanning objectives to keep
I recently bought a large estate lot of old microscopes. I am ultimately going to keep 4, and am building out a Zeiss standard for a friend. The scopes I am keeping are a W, a standard, what appears to be an inverted standard, and Universal. In the scanning range I have 7 candidates and the 5 I am k...

Re: Can I swap the head and focusing block on this late Zeiss universal? s
As a matter of cosmetics, I like this body in gray versus the hammer paint. From a practical standpoint it also has a connection for Epi through the body, much nicer. I am hoping behind the Head Zeiss preserved the same 4 bolt dovetail mount. We will see in a bit. How does the focusing block come of...

Can I swap the head and focusing block on this late Zeiss universal? s
As the title states would like to swap the head back to an old dovetail style and replace the focusing block with an old black metal one.
I have a nice optvar head in black and this one does not seem to be modular.
OK the focusing block I hate plastic...
Thanks for any input

Re: What were the best 23.2mm EPs at either 21 or 22?
I would be using these with my Zeiss GFL, so far the best out of whats in the drawer are some NIkon hkw10xs, and some B&L 10x WFs, I think Nikons are decent, but I like wide. I have a few different Indian 10xs in the drawer, that I need to sell because they are frankly Yunk. What was the widest Zeis...

Re: When was the golden age of Microscope hardware, and what Scopes from that age have survived the test of time
Well I have kinda gotten bit by the Zeiss Black microscope bug.. So will be learning first hand. I have tried a handful of old objectives and they seem to perform well. Unfortunately Eyepiece wise there seems to be a considerable gap. But to be expected I guess. I also don't have many Kpl eyepieces ...

Bought an old Zeiss for some Fluor objectives and the first one I tried is low contrast and the hole field doesn't seem to be in focus at once is the a symptom of delamination?
