Re: AmScope or Swift

It's really hard for me to say because I have a couple of each. I really like my Swift Stellar 1 with Plan Infinity objectives. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0392/7890/3427/products/DSC01924_1024x1024.jpg?v=1627526615 https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0392/7890/3427/products/DSC01853_3291cb79-97...

I would go with the Omax, but that's my personal choice. Both are good scopes.

Re: How many reticles needed?

Hey there 75RR. Thank you for your reply. I figured that's what it would be, just one is needed. I ordered an eyepiece with a reticle already in it from AmScope. It looks like the exact same eyepieces that's on my Omano. So if I need to measure something all I have to do is remove one of the eyepiec...

How many reticles needed?

When using a binocular microscope, I assume you only use one eyepiece with a reticle.

Re: Swift SW380 - New objective

From my experience, which ain't a lot, but enough to comment here, those objectives should fit the turret of your Swift with no problem. Most objectives will interchange with different microscopes. I had that same concern so what I did was buy one objective, (20X) to try it and it fit like it was ma...

I think what I will do is make a ringing table. I'll get me a small lazy susan, go on Amazon and get a set of slide clips and make a table. :)

Re: Will these melt paraffin wax?

If I was doing this on a large scale, I would invest in a Lee Melting Pot with a bottom pour that's used for melting lead for molding bullets and dedicate it to melting paraffin wax for embedding specimens for my microtome.

If the optics are the same, then I will buy the silver ones. If the microscope I'm going to put it on already has black objectives, then I'll buy the black ones.

Re: Will these melt paraffin wax?

I haven't used one like it, but a coffee warmer will melt paraffin so I imagine this would as well. The problem will be in controlling the temp. I'll put some in one of those paper cups that you use with the wax and see if it melts. If it does, I'll try pouring it into the specimen holder and micro...

Do these electric wax warmers get hot enough to melt paraffin wax for specimens for use with microtomes?

Hi Steve, they're U.S. made - a search will likely find them over your way.

I ordered a set of masks from ebay, and it's on the way. I'll use them with my Omano OM 159. I also have a couple of Amscopes, Omax, Celestron, and a couple of Swifts. One of the Swift is an older one, and that's the one that got me started. I bought it used back in the middle 1980's from a local mi...

As far as the Plans go, I'll order them like you did, one or two at a time.
