Re: Fibre optic light source focusing lens DIY
I have some delaminated KPL W 10x eyepieces which seem to have a perfect housing (the top part) for making of the focusing lens like these on the link below. https://www.schott.com/en-us/products/kl-fiber-optic-light-guides-p1000347/product-variants?tab=kl-series-optical-accessories I'd just have to...

Re: Fibre optic light sources
The unit arrived and it is in great condition, I've checked the guides they seem to be working and the light is very strong, so we're happy. I think I understand the purpose of the focusing lens now, so I'll try to DIY. I have some spare eyepieces which might do the purpose and a 3d printer. DSC0524...

You might be better of selling the parts separately, condenser in one listing, objective (lot or singles), eyepieces and the microscope.

Re: Stereo Microscope accompanying a handheld "microscope"
I had a Carson and actually is a great piece of a pocket microscope, especially for 20-30$. It is purely optical with a led on the bottom and the best thing is you can lean it on whatever you want and look at it. So I'd go around the house and observe how things look like magnified. That was before ...

Re: Stereo Microscope accompanying a handheld "microscope"
Carson's image looks the same on all magnifications. On a good real zoom you'll be able to resolve more details when you zoom in. For real 120x on a stereo you need a real good light and more expensive optics. Don't worry about magnification, 40x is more than enough on a stereo microscope. In US the...

Nice image, I love the bellows it is simple to use and you can use simple objectives, like a 50mm... No need to spend money on expensive dedicated macro lens, for static (studio) use anyway...
Just need to provide the right light...

Re: Fibre optic light sources
The Schott KL series are very nice lights. I've used a KL1500 for years without problems. I recently opened up a KL2500. The constant light temperature intensity control turns out not to be an iris. It's a large, thin perforated metal wheel. The size and number of the perforations vary systematical...

… So the thing is phone with a 1 inch sensor camera which cannot take pictures without a lens. Re: Fibre optic light sources
Brochure says for the second knob: "Mechanical brightness control without variation of the light’s color temperature" so I presumed it is an iris.
For the small switch it says: "Switch for optimizing the illumination", I suppose it is the one you mention, hopefully the supplements are included

Quite expensive, as everything
So you think we might be ok without these for a start? I looked up and saw quite a few Dolan Jenner units including these on eBay. Probably someone will want to send them here separately. Shipping from US is unfortunately too expensive for the whole unit.

I decided to buy one of these, there are some options on ebay currently. I'm not sure what effect would I get by having the option with an iris, they are a bit more exp...

Not sure how they would implement autofocus with these. Maybe make specific lens for a specific phone mount or a Bluetooth connection, AF needs power too. The whole point of phone photography that you can have a camera on you all the time and it fits in a pocket. With additional lens it isn't that s...
