Re: Nikon BD PlanAPO 40x 0.80 210mm

Thank you for your reply

My concern is the length of the mechanical tube (tube lens focal length).

What will happen if this objective lens is used on Oly's 180mm EPI system?

Excuse me, what's the problem with the Olympic 180mm EPI system?

After all, it's much cheaper ;)

You mean this knob interferes with the longer objective?

I think it can be shortened. After all, it will not be disassembled frequently, will it?

1、Does anyone know the specific model?

2、Does it interfere with the rotation of the stage?

Re: Wanted to buy: Olympus U-DCW Oil Darkfield Condenser

Thanks! I did get my hands on both the dry and oil Olympus darkfield condensers and have been enjoying them very much. How much did you end up paying for the DF oil condenser if you don’t mind me asking. Thanks! (Looking for one/considering it for my microscope) BH-DCW is less than $200 in the Chin...

Re: Olympus BH2 BHSP with reflected light

1. Does your diagram show MA2 or RLA? You said ""MA2 epi illuminator" (RLA)" so I'm not sure which one you're talking about. My MA2 doesn't have the lens with the red arrows. It is missing the entire AB119800. I assume my tube lens is the green one. 2. Yes, the tube lens has different corrections f...

Re: Water objective advice needed....

You guys got me looking at water objectives. I hate cleaning up oil and I like to be able to just sit down for 5 or ten minutes at a time. My main microscope has a 5 turret condenser with: ph2,ph3,DIC10, DIC40, and DIC100 prisms. If that wasn't the case I would probably look at 60 power objectives ...

Re: Olympus BH2 BHSP with reflected light

It might also be interesting to try a full UIS-infinity-compatible conversion. I don't know much about the polarization analyzer, but I'd assume the tube lens in another f=180 epi head could be removed and then something like a U-TLA tube lens added in place of a trinocular head for direct imaging ...

Re: Darkfield Microscope Configuration

Dark field is far from abandoned but there are stumbling blocks to using it in it's pinnacle form. DF stops are easy to make and use with a standard condenser but are only really practical up to a 20X objective. Using a 40X is possible but requires very high precision. An oil immersion DF condenser...

Re: Pleurosigma sp. diatom

Look up on the difference between objective magnification, eyepieces, and total magnification. If I project the image onto an outdoor theatre screen, it does not make it 100,000x. If you are lazy like me, just strictly use optical magnification. Objective magnification*projection eyepiece*optovar, ...

Very attractive image. Was it post-processed to remove halos ? Yeah, background swap and some cleaning since the slide was pretty dirty. Wait a minute..... 200x + image crop, right? No real cropping, the diatom filled the frame diagonally, 43.128mm, 100x objective and 2x projection eyepiece, which ...

Re: the scale on the condenser's aperture

For immersion objective lens, NA adjustment of condenser lens becomes insensitive, at least in my BHS. Of course, it is related to your expectation of contrast. In addition, high NA means low depth of field. I suggest you first ask yourself these two questions: 1. Do you know the resolution of 1.0na...
