Re: Canon Camera Adapter

Any feedback on the optic quality of Varimag adapters? https://www.varimag.com/specials/17-varimag-ii-dslr-microscope-camera-adapter.html Do you absolutely love your Canon DSLR? For a less than price of this Varimag adapter you could buy a new Olympus mirrorless camera (Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II),...

Thanks a bunch for that update.
I know that the 100 Watt version found on the BHS is different. Do you know a source of similar information for that model?
Thanks

I had seen that one Lorez.

Wondering if you have any positives or negatives based on your experience with it.

Re: MAYBE THIS SHOULD BE IN BEGINNERS CORNER but....

CE - Wondering why "NC objectives totally rule out a lot of higher magnification specimen observing." I likely (if at all ) will only get one of these so have to be pretty selective and evaluate my intended use presuming I even know that. Maybe just getting adventurous. I can & do have other things ...

Microscope/Cel phone camera holder. Any recommendations?

As my first entry into the protography end of microscopy and having low to mild success handholding the camera to the eyepiece, I think my next step to consider is one of those gizmos to hold the cel phone steady. Who here has used one or more of these and might be free with your recommendations of ...

It has been a while since posting here but I assure you that I peruse almost daily for topics of particular interest. But today I'm back for some expert advice. Having two Olympus BH2 scopes and still being on the steep side of a learning curve, and thinking I might be ready to go for a new lens hav...

Re: Advice about possible Bh2 purchase please

I have two BH2s (actually 3 if I count the one I bought for parts so I could get the second one up and running). One BH2 is a BHS model which has the 100 Watt illuminator. The second BH2 is a BHT model with a 20 Watt halogen lamp. The 3rd which has been robbed for parts is a BHTU model. One of them ...

Hendo - No apologies needed for hijacking IMO. I personally think it is good to bundle related stuff in one place. Makes it easier to locate for me.

I have gotten a bit detoured from progress on the photography thing but really like the ideas being thrown about here.

WD40 is basically mineral spirits/paint thinner with a small amount of lubricant and some other proprietary ingredients.

My first go to would be mineral spirits partly cuz have some laying around in the wood shop.

I bet if you sliced a cross section of those you would find a burl grain.
Highly desired by many woodworkers for its beauty. Especially in larger pieces which can be made into something that displays the burl pattern.

Re: Power supply substitution for old Zeiss light sources?

Well again I stand corrected on how most illuminator PSs are made. And a disadvantage of the way I made my PS is it is heavy - a little over 7 lbs. Still have to get the appropriate mating connector and add that to the box. One thing I like about this place is its a dynamite place to learn. And geck...
