If you're using single-edge blades, use the blades intended for shaving, not the industrial ones. Makes a difference!

Single-edged razor blades can be purchased for shaving at the pharmacy, and they are considerably sharper than the ones you buy for craft, box cutters, etc.

Often, a jeweler's screwdriver or a straightened paperclip can be used to push the spring finger flush to install the condenser.

The B&L and the Nikon SMZ-2 are both good, but if you are doing a lot of microelectronics and other work on the stage, the rests on the
Nikon may be more comfortable, plus the ability to illuminate from below is a plus.

Lighter fluid is petroleum ether, known also as ligroin and naphtha, but lighter fluid is the best way to get small quantities.
