Re: playing with light retarders
Red cherry blossoms? There is a market for patterns on consumer goods : shower curtains and such, aprons too and perhaps barber capes. In the latter case perhaps the title should be changed to " ouch". I think I keep the original names,so lets set for artistic freedom in namegiving :ugeek: ,as far ...

Image 500(7) is pretty cool. I have no idea what kind of scale we're looking at, though. Where did you find urea? Thanks. For my mother
Every two weeks I prepare a "magazine" for my 90 Y.O. mother and have it printed out at the printshop. She has always been curious whath I've been doing as a hobby photographer and with these booklets I made kept her informed. Although I switched to microscopy photography recently she still loves to...

cigars and microscopy
I know smoking is not good for my health but...never mind.
Today I printed my self made cigars packages linked to my hobby.
It's something I do from time to time in order not having to look at the dull cigarettes/cigars packages they sell today.

Very cool! Do you use alcohol to dissolve the Vitamin C? I desolve the vitamine in water first and after putting a few drops on the slide I add some alcohol to break the surface. a few days ago I cristalized the solution on the radiator but now i let it dry on my desk and get a better result. Re: handy cross table solution for stereo microscope
Interesting idea! Am I looking at this wrong; if you flip the lid over so the edges are sitting on the base, and presumably clearing the lower filter, wouldn't that allow you to move the specimen around by moving the lid? Just a thought. turning the lid over would make a difference. now I can contr...

handy cross table solution for stereo microscope
I was thinking of buying a cross table for my stereo microscope. There was one little problem:how to keep my polarization lens in place? So I found out that a transparent plasic box lit does a great job. No spills on the microscope, easy to find the spot you are looking for and usable for slides and t...

There's nothing like a nice stereo. Looks like you're putting it to good use! True!and the thing I like most on this one(besides that it can be used as a regular microscope) is that going from x10 to x40 goes stepless. It's like you get sucked into the object, love it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Something I learned while I was a glass art aprentice and that also counts here; When using a brush to clean your microscope the best one to use is a (real)badger hair shaving brush.
Their haires are the softest in the world and will prevent scratches on your optics.

That is a very nice effect :-) Roughly where in the system does this get placed?
