Re: Greetings, Jeff in Texas here

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll have a great time here!

With your other interest in old artifacts, an (additional) stereoscope is a must :)
(you'll find it very handy with fly fishing too)

Thank you Bruce, for helping with the specimen's id. Other than this species, I'd also often seen a smaller type in my sample. and will try to get a picture or video for ID next time. These guys are really predatory. The same one in the segment with the rotifer later took on another 2 rotifers, abou...

inspired by mintakax excellent loxophyllum meleagris video , i'm sharing some of my old ones of the same ciliate, taken a few years back that I don't quite remember the technical details, but from the look of them, it must had been either oblique, HMC, or a combination of both... this one is about a...

Re: My Scopes and my source of Pond-Life...

Thank you Charlie, Yes, I did pumped CO2 into the tank during that time, but just from the "DIY yeast+sugar bottle" method. The "stair" plastic structure on the left, back side of the tank is the bubble dispenser that connected to 3-litter bottle of the yeast/sugar solution in the back. That was a f...

Thank you for sharing Charles. Amazing images as usual!

Kurt mentioned "eye candy". For some reason, I feel these images very...appetizing. Maybe from the color palettes of subject...?

I feel like reaching out, break one of the thorny sticks, and...suck on it.

Honey candy indeed :)

Re: Larger Diatoms Just For Fun

Wow. Even better looking diatoms now Kurt! This kind of quality has to come from mastering of both the microscope components (objectives + condenser fiddling :) ) and the way you set up the photographic system. Sorry if you had explained this somewhere on this site already, but are you using afocal ...

Re: Dressing up the BH-2

Great find! Congratulation! It's surprising that the "super" head does not look big at all, but rather very well balance on the scope. Not like when I put the regular BH2 trinocular head on my BHMJ, or the newer Zeiss (white) trinocular on a GFL: the scopes look like...ET! 30 mm eyepieces are also v...

Hi Kurt Just want to get more points for stereoscope usage :) : My other regular usage is for my other fishing hobby (we never have enough of them  ) Not into fly-tying yet, but the scopes are great for examining all the knots on my rigs, and how sharp the hooks are, and I check them quite ofte...

Re: Power supply substitution for old Zeiss light sources?

Thank you Bill & 75RR I have both the Zeiss 12V 100W halogen and 60W bulb housing. You're right that although the one I show seems to have more "bells and whistle", but I'm sure the built quality won't be as solid as the old one. Amazon has similar models and the reviews are mixed. Also good point t...

Power supply substitution for old Zeiss light sources?
