LOMO has made some "contact" objectives. There's five of them on eBay as I write.

I have no idea of how they are used or even what they are used for.

Probably not. The PV series were made specifically for the Heine
back in the day when Leitz was using 35mm parafocal objectives.
Mount a 10x and see if you have at least another 5 mm of stage
travel. Better yet, wait for one of the Orthoplan users to chime
in.

The Laborlux S comes with a POL analyzer.

This is a polarizing filter that slides into a slot beneath the head
and above the objective. It looks like a looks like black horizontal bar.
If this filter is damaged it certainly won't help your image.

The Heine condenser isn't made to use a field iris or Kohler illumination.

Just keep your iris wide open and you'll be OK.

A thousand words are not necessary. It is obvious than the
condenser stop screw must be backed off until it no longer
interferes.

Check Google Pictures and you'll find a dozen or more images.
After savoring them you'll still have to back off that screw.

It sounds like your big LOMO's lamp is sending a parallel light beam, as if from infinity, to the condenser. The BFO-C condenser expects a diverging light beam, as if from 10 inches.
