Thanks John, very fascinating! I had the same liverworth under my microscope last week but the capsules were not mature yet.
I had a hard time sectioning the 'spongy' leafs for cross-sections using only my rasor blade...

Thanks all for the advice. I probably will make a DIY system with dimmable option. After one day I am realy hooked on LEDs. My wet mounts seem to last forever..

My LOMO biolam is equiped with a light with a normal bulb. This is giving quite a yellow light, so I use a blue filter to get a white background. Yesterday I have tried to replace the LOMO standard bulb with a small LED bulb of 1.5W, normally used as light for the fridge. The bulb is made by OSRAM, ...

.. and I forgot to take a picture of the leitz darkfield condensor. This seems to be brand new and not fitting anywhere on the microscope. Maybe someone wants to trade it with a LOMO darkfield consensor....?

.. that is funny... Initially I was using the scope with the oculars facing away from the arm but then I noticed that the lettering on the sample stage was upside down, so I rotated the head... It works perfectly both ways....
