What a beauty! I haven't seen one like that yet under my microscope, so of course I'm interested in what it is...

Located some footage of several garden inhabitants. At this point, I was using a Tomlov DM15 digital microscope (the one that captured my imagination!).

Re: Looking for camera for Swift SW380B

So, it turns out that the Hayear "software" is just measuring software available if one needs it (which I do not.) The camera runs quite nicely with either Mac, via Photo Booth or Windows via Windows Camera. I had it attached to the laptop, and used the Windows controls to take video and photos, and...

Re: Swift SW380B objective lenses problem

Swift Microscopes unfortunately does not reply to emails sent from their website. The illumination thing happened several more times, and I returned it because nobody at Swift ever responded to my questions. Oh well. Maybe there was something loose under there and I jarred it. The bottom of the lens...

Found some footage from November 2023 showing what I called "peanuts". Turns out they were ciliates undergoing mitosis.

Re: SW380B no illumination getting through the condenser

I just went over to the microscope, and turned it on and NOW the light is going through the way it should. What a mystery! So, I still do not have a clue why the light was blocked, or what I did wrong here. Anyway, if you think of something, let me know. If I'm fortunate enough to hear back from Swi...

Re: SW380B no illumination getting through the condenser

@Alexander - I fiddled with the little lever which I believe is the iris (could be wrong) and the top metal part which I believe is the condenser. I don't think I messed with the underneath part, the diaphragm. @Hobbyst46 - I have not moved the nosepiece at all; it has the camera attached to one of ...

SW380B no illumination getting through the condenser

I had just put a new slide on the tray, and was adjusting the condenser to see if I could get a better lighting for the picture on my screen, when...POOF...the light stopped transmitting to the slide. The bottom illumination is still working, but once it hits the condenser, it's stopped cold. I have...

Re: Swift SW380B objective lenses problem

@Michael G - I would try that, but as I was adjusting the condenser on the SW380B, the light stopped transmitting to the slide. The bottom illumination is still on, but nothing is going through the condenser. I've just written to Swift asking for help, and I will post a separate forum question about...

Thanks, everybody, for your responses. @Michael G - that vid was spot on, as well as the discussion thread. Re: Swift SW380B objective lenses problem

Oh, I forgot: the 40x is being sold as a 195 conjugate and this is the one which works. The 4x advert (same vendor) doesn't say anything.

I've attached photos to compare the two. Besides the color, how would I know which is 185 and which is 195?

Swift SW380B objective lenses problem

I had ordered two lenses from AliExpress, a semi-plan 40x and an achromatic 4x lens. Before purchasing, I made sure the numbers on the lens barrels was identical to what was shown on my Swift SW380B lenses (4/0.10 160/0.17) The 40x works but the 4x does not. When I contacted the seller they said I o...

Have a great day!
