Re: Thoughts about this microscope
I would like to ask about your opinion about this particular brand and microscope. It is from a hungarian brand than seems to be practicaly no-name (albeit few foreign shops offer them on their sites) and I am a little bit skeptic about a possible purchase. On the page it seems perfect and meets al...

Re: New Purchase Bestscope Model BS-2080 Chinese vs Big 5
Interestingly I have seen some off-brand manufacturers pointing out they use metal in their construction. Perhaps in response to concerns like those mentioned in this forum. Whether those "metal" parts translate to equivalent longevity or performance to older scopes will be proven with time. I thin...

Re: My first Microscopes
How do the two scopes compare in image quality? How much difference do the Olympus objectives make? Just curious, thanks!RudiV wrote:This addiction is bad.....Crater Eddie wrote:You are building quite a stable there. Nice.

Re: Has ebay sunk to new lows?
Is it possible? In general ebay works. For both buyers and sellers of microscopes and parts, it offers a unique market connection, that would be hard to replace. Ebay works for ebay too, by charging a percentage on sales, as well as a listing fee. The more something sells for, the more they make. E...

Re: My new stereoscope
I just bought a C&A Scientific Premiere SMZ-07 stereoscope. It has zoom capability from 7x to 45x and it also has a trinocular head. So, my next mission will be to figure out how to mount my Nikon dSLR to it. I'll probably order an adapter I found on Amazon for around $90.00, but I'm not sure of th...

It's the same as Amscope's http://www.amscope.com/40x-1500x-plan-infinity-laboratory-trinocular-compound-microscope.html I guess the photo on their website shows different objectives, but it's most likely a listing error (older revision). They definitely have the same exact ones, at least on the T720s

They are very nice images. Do you know about Köhler lighting? Apologies but I'm not sure what your equipment is. e.g. http://www.brunelmicroscopes.co.uk/kohler.html or http://zeiss-campus.magnet.fsu.edu/articles/basics/kohler.html Nope, I just found out though. I'm using a http://www.microscopenet....

I have no idea what I'm doing yet, I Just maxed out light intensity, closed condenser all the way and tried my best to focus. Any advice on using the ToupView software, or if I'm doing something wrong, I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Re: Cleaning internal lenses and optics
Hi, I read in the Olympus manual and also in the Zeiss cleaning manual that you should *never* clean internal optics yourself, but let an authorized service center do the cleaning. Does any one here have any experience or knowledge from this and what would be the reason? Is it so that the coating i...

Re: Tip for new microscope buyers on a budget.
from my experience it can be a loose soldering connection, bad potentiometer, bad power supply/transformer, and less frequently bad LED, fuse, or external power adapter, if that applies. All this is just gobbledegook though as each model has its peculiarities. You should have at least 1 spare bulb a...

Re: microscope buying question
Excellent post Bill. I highly recommend the Zeiss Primostar, btw, on that link. It was the best detail I've seen looking through a scope. I'll have to look through a T720 again to compare but it was pretty amazing. I'd definitely cough up an extra $400-500 for one of those.
