Hi,
If only you were in the UK..........the import duties are horrendous however, and put this out of reach.
Kind regards,
David

Slide Etcher/Marker
Is anybody able to help me with this? Along with a box of Olympus objectives I recently acquired the item shown. It has a diamond at the sharp end and an RMS thread at the other. My first thought was that it was a slide etcher or marker. I assumed that the diamond was set a tiny amount off centre an...

Re: Site driving me nuts
Hi Bob&John,
Yes, I can see that that would work - why didn't I think of it?
BUT, it's a workaround and doesn't answer the question of why hopping backwards/forwards through the site doesn't work.
It works everywhere else I browse.
Kind regards,
David

Site driving me nuts
I seem to have a problem with the site which is frustrating in the extreme. If I enter any topic, let's say Pictures and Video, look at one or more articles, and then hit the back arrow (iMac) to return to the list of topics, I do indeed return to this list but not the current one. For example, I ha...

Re: Lomo objective designations
Thank you again for the information. I have only "K" Lomo oculars - I'll try these against an "other brand" non-comp ocular when I get hold of a suitable stand. Rather shortsightedly and regrettably I sold my Lomo 'scope some while ago. I've tried the objectives on a CTS stand but the short, non DIN...

Re: Lomo objective designations
Many thanks to all; most of the mysteries are now solved and I can sort my modest collection accordingly.
I have assumed that all should be used with the Lomo compensating oculars (K), am I correct in this assumption?
Kind regards,
David

Lomo objective designations
Hi All, Is anybody able and willing to supply a definitive list of Lomo objective markings and their meanings? I have managed to deduce a few; Apo, water immersion, and oil immersion for example, but there are still quite a few which leave me puzzled. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I should ...

Hi, I believe that I was responsible for ebay pulling that listing. I saw that item and realised that it was too good to be true and asked ebay to investigate the seller. I "bought" one just to keep in the picture as it were, but didn't pay pending ebay's investigation. Sure enough, I was soon advis...

Must have missed it the first time around, but it's still fascinating.
What a pity that after all that effort Mrs. Spider had a headache!

Paramecium Conjugation ???
Hi All, This is my first image through the microscope. I have not yet set up a proper system using camera and photoport, but when I saw this I took a couple of quick shots with a handheld iPhone through an ocular. Would anybody be kind enough to confirm (or otherwise) that this is an example of Para...

Re: Leitz SM-LUX Focussing
Hi John, Thank you. That's quite confusing to a newcomer to the sport but a little clearer now. As I said in my original post, I have placed a short extender (cheap Chinese without optic, not Plezzy) behind each objective and get a decent - at least to me - image, so the 'scope is useable. I can see...

Re: Leitz SM-LUX Focussing
Thanks Brad - so when I see an SM-LUX advertised with 170mm objectives these will be to the DIN 45mm parfocal standard? (unless they're mismatched like mine of course!)

David

Leitz SM-LUX Focussing
I have recently bought a SM-LUX fitted with a full set of Leitz 170mm objectives none of which can be brought to focus. The stage when fully raised is approximately 4mm below where it needs to be to achieve focus. I have tried other (Olympus) "short" objectives with the same result. However, a set o...

I am still interested in the microtome and, if you have the patience, might I ask that we start again. For the purpo...

Re: For Sale: Hand Microtome, Phase Objectives, 4x
Hi,
I should like to buy the microtome if you are prepared to post to the UK and just so long as the postage is not too high.
Would you be kind enough to PM me with details of all in price and your preferred payment method.
Kind regards,
David

Re: Reichert Repair/Service Manuals
Apochronaut - Thank you but if only that were the problem. The fine focus was working perfectly until the microscope was relocated recently. I fear that the stage (perhaps) received a bump during the move which broke something as there is now no connection between the fine focus knob and the slider...

Good morning all, I have Reichert microscopes, a Zetopan and an MeF2, both of which would benefit from service/repair. The Zetopan has dirty internal optics whilst the MeF2 has a non functioning fine focus mechanism. I would appreciate any leads you are able to give as to where I might obtain docume...
