Re: Experience with clearance-free Olympus BH2-SRG Rotating Stage Clips.

Just updating this forum post with a question. Does anybody who own the Olympus U-FMP can provide the dimensions of the Allen screw that secures it? I am trying to see if I can mount a U-FMP Mechanical Stage onto a BH2-SRP.

Experience with clearance-free Olympus BH2-SRG Rotating Stage Clips.

Hello does anybody have recommendations for alternatives or options for mechanical stages to the BH2-SRG rotating stage for the Olympus BHS Microscope? I have recently acquired one with a third party mechanical stage but I am unable to use it as the stage clips are too high, blocking the rotation of...

I would like to know then what exposure times can freeze most motion. With this limitation in mind, I can only feasibly go to an exposure time of 1/250 sec with my camera.

Banding in my images when attempting flash photomicrography:

Hello I recently made a Flash Photomicrography setup using a 50/50 beamsplitter. My camera is a Canon 60D with an external flash-sync cord attached to a Yongnuo Speedlite NW-580. The flash unit is not recognized by the Canon 60D so changing flash unit settings on the camera's end is not feasible. At...

Bumping this thread as I think I am changing my approach. I've recently perused a variety of Flash Photomicrography setups and recently saw David Walker's setup with a beamsplitter linked here: http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/indexmag.html?http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/artjun07/dw-flash2.h...

Re: Advice on theorycrafting a Flash Photomicrography setup.

Thank you for the reply @MichaelG. One thing of note is that are there fiber optic cables that take two inputs but only release one? Eg. I can link a fiber optic cable to my background light and a flash unit to one cable?

Advice on theorycrafting a Flash Photomicrography setup.

I have recently taken an interest in adapting Charles Krebs' Photomicrographic setup. However, I am concerned with the risk of disassembling the flash unit that he used and any potential damage to my Olympus BHS's lamphousing. An alternative I have thought of is using s a Y fiber optic cable connect...

Apologies the granulation is way too fine to be called Chediak Higashi.

Re: Is there a doctor in the house?

The second 100x photomicrograph that features a cell almost like an Eosinophil is actually a Neutrophil. That particular slide seems to be a case of Chediak-Higashi. This immunodeficiency impedes the granulation of Neuts preventing adequate respiratory burst used to kill pathogens, mainly bacteria.

Does the crop of the 2.5x NFK eyepiece obscure the curvature of non-Plan Olympus Objectives?

Hello I have a question with regards to the use of non-Plan finite Olympus objectives for the BH2 with the 2.5NFK Eyepiece. Thanks for the reply, apochronaut. I also have some further questions on the Heine. Are there scenarios where the Heine or a variable DF condenser is more effective in imaging than DIC for maximizing contrast and resolution.

To your comment about aplanatic-achromatic condensers, Apochronaut where you stated that aplanatic-achromatic condensers whose anti-reflection coatings are damaged will have their peripheral light rays affected.

How badly does the loss of reflection coating affecting the performance of condensers?

I have a question, regarding the how anti-reflection coating and its loss would affect the condenser. Obviously in objectives, the image would lose contrasts due to the scatter. As such, would coating losses in the condenser reduce its NA and potential image quality of the specimen or is that effect...

Does anybody know about special microscope objective cases that can store fat-barreled objectives? My Olympus SPlan Apos have that knurled ring that makes them impossible to be stored with regular microscope objective cases. I would like to know other people's suggestions. Thank you in advance.
