Re: decent 2x camera adapter - Imaging Apparatus company?
and 75RR, I had seen that thread previously (and I actually worked with the OP in that thread to piece my gear together, but we didn't have time to discuss camera adapters).

Re: decent 2x camera adapter - Imaging Apparatus company?
wporter, Good point about the ebay adapter from China-it's inexpensive and I'd noted it, but then saw the older thread about the Imaging Apparatus adapter. Now, For the AO #1067 you mentioned, do you know what it would take to "make an adapter"? Also, I can't seem to find information about the #1067...

Re: decent 2x camera adapter - Imaging Apparatus company?
Thank you both. Yes, I have #176 10x eyepieces. Hopefully the member who has the adapter will respond about the lens quality. My understanding is that I don't need any additional correction, as it is achieved prior to the eye pieces for the AO 20.

decent 2x camera adapter - Imaging Apparatus company?
I'm looking for 2x adapter that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but that has decent glass and machining of decent quality. Forum member Hendo mentioned his here http://www.microbehunter.com/microscopy-forum/viewtopic.php?t=3061#p31604 and I tried to PM him to ask about it, but can't get the message t...

Re: AO 20 lamp assembly
Point taken about the lamp holder. I do not doubt billbillt about the brightness either. I guess if I were to go toward the holder/psu on ebay, I'd be hoping that because the transformer is the right Cat.#, the holder itself would be one of those Apo mentioned that install/align correctly in the AO ...

Re: looking for a better camera
Since you got no responses... I'll offer this. I'm not expert, but am looking into much that same thing: using a Canon dslr. Try google searches starting with microbehunter or photomacrography then add your other search words. Try adding "how to connect..." or words like afocal, projection lens ... ...

Re: AO 20 lamp assembly
But I think you would have a rough time getting that into the AO 20 without some major modifications. That's what I was thinking, and then there's proper alignment for critical illumination (or if that doesn't apply, due to lack of filament then some kind of correct placement within... though I do ...

Re: AO 20 lamp assembly
I'm all for less money... are there any recommended links to DIY install of these? I notice that 200 lumens/watt is about the max. for LEDs, so one like the provided link above "100W" must be about actual 10W, yielding perhaps 1000 lumens. So back to my previous question: How many (let's call them) ...

Re: AO 20 lamp assembly
It is not a replacement, as the illumination is far from the 3400 lumens , that the original bulb produces....i think 1000 or something, like that? If you are looking to do DF and want the benefit of the generous filter carousel on the 20, you will want the halogen set up. The LED conversion kit he...

Re: AO 20 lamp assembly
So, looks like 3 options: the ebay 2051 may be correct, I could re-consider LED, or there's the AO 10 with Ortho option (which I suppose means also an option on an AO 20). Thanks folks, I'll be mulling.

Re: AO 20 lamp assembly
So, I need more help. Short version: I see nothing (various ebay searches) for the 2050 lamp holder. The AO 20 “Microstar” manual I’m using indicates lamp itself as 2050 (and from what I’ve gleaned elsewhere, the lamp holder might be a 2050A but unsure of that). The AO 20 I’m looking into is clean, ...

Right Apo, thanks. A more powerful 20W LED is available but it costs...too much The comments here have been very helpful. What do folks here think of Balplans in general? My understanding is that parts are especially hard to come by, and that's the primary caveat. Thoughts?

AO 20 lamp assembly
I'm looking at an AO 20 but it has no lamp assembly. I keep consulting Neeley https://user.xmission.com/~psneeley/Personal/Microscope.htm but can't seem to find the catalog number for any assemblies. My understanding is the replacement would be a 12v, 100W assembly. Can anyone point me the right dir...

Re: LED conversions
I'm sure this is not what the OP is interested in, but I'm curious if anyone knows anything about these http://www.retrodiode.com/ (links to their ebay store) I'm all ears. I'm looking at an AO 20 which needs a lamp assembly or else an LED retrofit. If I decided to go LED, I'm not going to spend tim...

Re: Guys need your advise for my first microscope
This is curious... korean microscope that's the same as the amscope (which is chinese). All the inexpensive (non Big 4) stuff is largely from China. Of course, Big 4 stuff made there too but to high spec, with QA. If it is true that the scope on the bestkorean website is same as the amscope model me...

Resurrecting this before it gets stale. The OMAX scope kit1980 got is model CS-M8311Z-A195KL-C140U which is Kohler and has a camera. I'm focused on the OMAX CS-M8311 part of it, since I've been considering a chinese as a first scope. I have found OMAX model numbers/features particularly hard to work...

Hi all. I have been reading here a lot lately and learning from it. I'm a near-total newcomer to microscopy and I have not a scope. I've not posted elsewhere on the forum yet, as I'm refining my goals. Also, in truth I realized I need a certain number of posts to enable PM-ing --- so one question I ...
